Do you think it's possible to make an ADR at Whispering Canyon for 6:00 pm, eat, and get back to EPCOT to see Illuminations? Should we eat earlier? We only saw Illuminations once and I don't remember whether you have to stake out a good spot hours earlier or can we just stand anywhere in the area and see it. TIA

Are you traveling by car or bus? If you have a car, it would be tight if you are looking for a good spot at Illuminations. If you are traveling by bus, no way. This is also using an hour as your eating time, you could end up being much longer depending on you ADR wait time.

Let's see:

ADR at 6pm, lets say 10 min wait, puts you at 6:10pm. Give or take 1 1/2 hrs to eat (are you on the dining plan?) puts you at about 7:40pm.

If you're going on the monorail, then you have to take a boat back to MK, monorail to TTC, monorail to Epcot. That's going to put you at Epcot around 8:40pm. By the time you walk to the bridge separating FW & WS that's right around 9pm.

If you go by bus from WL, you'll get there around 8:15pm - 8:30pm, again putting you around the WS entrance around 9pm.

If you go by car to WL then take the car to Epcot, you can get there by 8pm. Plenty of time to park and get comfy.

The beauty of Illuminations is that there really isn't too many bad spots. You can position yourself anywhere around WS and still have a great view. I've stood just in front of the monorail track on the walkway between FW and WS and still had a great view.

I think you have plenty of time. I've enjoyed Illuminations just as much when we walked out of a restaurant and grabbed a last-minute spot as when we've staked out one an hour before.

I would use Disney transportation to get to WCC and take the bus from the front of the lodge to Epcot after dinner.

Thanks all for the advice. We will be taking the buses. Even if we miss the beginning or part of illuminations it's ok. In fact, if we missed the whole thing it wouldn't be a vacation bummer(now missing FANTASMIC is another story). I think I'll do it.
