I promised my kids we would go to US when Wizarding World opened up. Of course, it is hard to plan when there is no actual opening date, but having gone once before, and almost driving myself nuts, I knew I needed to have something planned as early as possible.

My kids want to do the auto train again. Everybody loved the train ride last time. However, that means we are limited on travel dates. Last time we stayed 6 nights and did the 4 parks. It was too much.

I want at least 2 days, maybe 3 at Universal Studios. Probably one night at a US hotel for the front of line passes? This should be enough time for the parks?

Would like one day at Animal Kingdom and one at Magic Kingdom. Seems it gets cheaper to stay more days, so maybe it would be better to skip it entirely?

Don't know if we should stay hotel off site, or value resort, or rent a townhouse? It is going to be me and the 3 kids, so I don't want it to get too complicated.

Last time we stayed at Shades of Green, but DH isn't going this time, so that is out. Would I be better off with a "package" from somewhere? or plan it myself? or I should say try to plan it myself? :)

There will be me, DD15, DS12 and DD10, so I now have 3 adult children! :scared1:

I wanted to go in late May, early June, but I don't think the timing will work for Wizarding World. So we will probably end up going in mid August, only because the two weeks is not an option if they are in school.

I currently have $3200 saved, and would like to keep it to that if possible.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated! :goodvibes

You can't stay at SOG without your husband?

He is a Dept of Defense employee, and I "believe" he has to be present at check in.
Although, I should probably double check that!

Also, last time it was around $100 a night, which is not something I want to pay if we are going to be there for two weeks. However, I am willing to move around once or twice if needed.

Hmmm... I would definitely look into staying offsite. I am not sure if your husbands job qualifies him to use Armed Forces Vacation Club or not. If so, that is your BEST choice! WE have been twice now and stayed two weeks at very nice resorts! Not a bad drive at all and the first time was in 2007 and I went alone with a 2 and a 4 year old!

we stayed at Windsor Hills last summer and LOVED it. $450 for the whole week TOTAL. So two weeks would be $900...Woo Hoo.

Then you can spend more on dining out and such.

:thumbsup2
