Is this plantar fasciitis, or something else?

...I am starting to feel like a true poster child for running injuries. :headache:

Here's the latest ordeal I am working through - I'm not sure if what I have is the beginning of Plantar Fasciitis, or something else. In the last few days I have been feeling a sort of "tingly" sensation on the arch of my left foot, pretty much right in the middle. Sort of like the tendons are stretched out too much or something like that - it's a little hard to describe. It's not painful, but there is something definitely off there. I don't have any sharp/stabbing pain in the heel (at least not yet), which seems typical of PF.

I don't really feel this sensation while running (for example yesterday did 9 miles and no problems), but will feel if afterwards while stretching. It does feel really good to stretch it out using various techniques I found online, or using a frozen water bottle, so I've been doing that quite a bit lately.

Last week on vacation I did some running on the beach (on the hard-packed surface, near shore line), and I wonder if this aggravated things.

I must also have some sort of imbalance/weakness, because every injury I've ever had - runner's knee, ankle soreness, sciatica - has been on my left side ONLY.

Any ideas of what this tingly sensation might be?

Hard to say. Pain in that area can be blunt force trauma, muscle strain, or ligament sprain.

As far as pain always on one side, do you run on an uneven surface. For example, always run on a road facing traffic.

Anyway, best of luck.

Hi APRunner, I tend to vary the surface I run on - the Greenway/other trails, sidewalk, and road. The sciatica actually occurred PRIOR to my running career, it first appeared when was pregnant with my first child.

I'll just have to keep my eye on this and see how things go, I guess....

It doesn't sound like PF. I've been dealing with it since November 2010....and from the beginning its been a bruise like pain in the heel with every step. the tingling in arch could be a lot of different things: not enough arch support, too much arch support, over training etc. If there's no pain I'd just keep an eye on it, stretch it several times a day, ice it, rest days... If you're worried I'd go see a foot and ankle specialist just to rule out anything serious. Good luck! Runnning injuries totally suck:headache:
