Is this OK?

Darn it. Why have I been ordering all this Tupperware lately? KIDDING folks.

A banana, fruit, muffin, cookie - go for it. Anything else (except when I was in college ;)) no way.

There's this woman that works with my DH (she's kinda crazy) that brings containers to the annual Christmas party and literally loads them up after everyone is done eating. We all get a kick out of it.

I admit at CM we took an apple once that one of my DDs had on her plate and was to full to eat. As many said it is going to be thrown out any way so take it, and eat it later.

When my kids were little, I think we left every buffet with half-eaten boxes of cereal and sometimes cookies they'd taken then couldn't finish.

I would say for an adult you need to get your fill while you are at the buffet. For younger children however it can be difficult to get them to eat a whole meal regardless of whether your at a buffet or not. So grabbing an apple, muffin, or something small like that shouldn't be a problem...unless the kid is a garbage disposal and already ate more than his/her parents combined, lol.

I also don't think it's okay to take food to go from an all you can eat buffet. If you want food later you should be prepared to pay for it IMO. That having been said, I think if a little one has already chosen an item, but couldn't finish it and wants to take it for later, then the restaurant would probably be understanding.
A silly story.... a couple of years ago a friends 2 year old ds wanted to take a banana from Crystal Palace. Somehow he got attached to this dang banana. Called it his banana all through breakfast. Declared at the end of the meal that he would be taking his banana. His mom said that it was not okay. Waitress said that it would be just fine (because he was so little, cute, and serious about it). He kept the banana in his stroller in the late June heat all day and when any of us got near it, he reminded us that it was his banana. No one, including him ever ate the banana. :confused3 I think it was a souvenir!! :lmao:
For the record - it was originally MY banana - but he still gets mad if I say that!!!

That is too cute. My youngest DD, who was about four at the time, did that with a pickle! She wrapped it in a napkin and carried it around all day saying it was "her baby." Kids!!:confused3

On our trip in 2006, we ate at Chef Mickeys for breakfast. As we were getting ready to leave, our server brought us some fruit - a couple bananas and apples I think, and a couple of large cookies. Even though the boys (then ages 3 and 7) had eaten a big breakfast, she thought they may need a snack before lunch ! I thought it was a very sweet thing to do, and she was right - the fruit and the cookies were gone before dinner time !

I wish they would let you take some bread pudding to go from Ohana lol!

The only thing I would consider taking from a buffet is an apple or banana. I am not a dessert eater but do like a piece of fruit after dinner so I would be eating it anyways. Sometimes though you don’t want it right away and I think taking ONE piece for the road is fine. Taking a doggy-bag, however, is a bit greedy.

I think we are all on the same page here, thanks for all the help. I was thinking about grabbing an apple or bananna..... Only if my little uns don't eat, who knows if this will even be a needed. I hate to waste food and want to teach my kids right from wrong.

Thank for the help.

I almost forgot, on the first night of our vacation, we ate dinner at Chef Mickeys and they had actually started to put all the food away (we had one of the last ADR's) and my DD started to cry because when she went up to the buffet, the apples and fruit were gone, so a Chef heard her and told us to wait. When they came back they had 2 apples for her and told her she could take it with her. It's a small thing, but it made her so happy.
