Is this normal?

I'm checking into my hotel later today. I got a text this morning that my card was charged for the remaining balance plus an additional $100, which I'm assuming is the new credit card hold for the room. But when I go to look at my room balance it still says that I owe this balance and don't show the charge to my card from this morning? The alert went through at 6am so it's been almost two hours. Will this not show up until I actually get to the hotel? Normally my card isn't charged before I get there this early so just want to make sure everything is okay.
 
Yes, they started doing this around the end of February/ beginning of March this year. I believe they charge the card around 6 AM on the day you're scheduled to arrive.

As you charge to the room, additional $100 holds will be placed so that your balance is what you've charged plus $100.
 

And this is why I didn't save my card to the site when I got our room, purchased tickets, or Memory Maker. I also will not do online check in as they say you HAVE to leave your card number for the authorizations. I'm dealing with a bank debit card and can't "afford" the $100 hold considering I have everything budgeted out for what we'll need.
