Is this normal?

We are new members, having bought a resale and closed in September, but is it normal for DVC to be sending out so many requests for us to solicit new members? In the past three months, we've received a Lilo and Stich poster asking us to provide names, etc.. of friends and relatives, and we recently received a packet with postcards to send to friends, relatives, etc... Is it normal to receive so many of these solicitations within such a short period of time? Is it a sign that DVC is in such a need for new members? I would think not, but I'm just a little surprised. Anyway, they can send me all the free souveniers they want. I'll be keeping the postcards for myself as nice momentos...

Being new also, I'm just wondering if all this sales material is in anyway helped funded by dues! Does anyone know?

No, it's not funded by dues. DVD has its own marketing and operating budgets that are separate.

My experience with the materials is sporadic. We get nothing for several months, then a few things within a few weeks of one another. Since we live in a state where we can't legally take a referral "reward" we just keep them as souvenirs.

We only get solicitation material sporadicaly too. We get nothing for months and then a few things in a row. I like getting all the little Disney pins and posters and things though so I don't mind in the least

i had $900 disney dollars on my last trip to spend because of referral money i got as a result of referring people. i will have another $200 on the way for another referral after they close..they dont need me to sell for them..they will eventually sell out but it s nice to get the bonus for selling someone something that will save them $1000's in the long run..it is very easy to sell the dvc to someone..i dont try try to people ask me and i give them info on it..

DW and I joined in June of 2000 and we have been getting all of those same mailings as well. Unless you consider being a member for almost 3 years being new I would say it is normal.

Don't ever remember recieving anything...but we can't give referrals from our state....wonder if that has anythign to do with it...

I don't think that has anything to do with it. We can't get referrals either, but we still get the materials. Like I said above, we get several things within a month or two, then nothing for a long while. We just keep them as souvenirs.
