I am a teacher, nad i wouldn't want anyone wrapping gifts for me, but you are mistaken if you think those teachers leaving at 3 work 8-3. I leave at 3, but I get to school at 6:30am(school starts at 7:10) AND take work home with me. There is no way to teach and only work during the hours students are there.
Agreed, when student teaching I would get there 30 mins before school started. School ended @ 3 and I usually left at 4 b/c I was cleaning up and setting up for the next day.
THEN I'd get home, do dinner, spend time with DD, get her bathed and off to bed and do lesson plans and prep for the next day (b/c I was only student teaching I wasn't getting preps). So, if we were making witches I'd have to trace, cut out 21 circles, rectangles, triangles, etc. I had kindergarten so I wasn't bringing home things to be graded, but...
But if that was something my PTO offered I probably wouldn't take them up on it b/c I love wrapping and listening to Christmas music and stuff like that. But I'm sure for some also look at it like hey, they're offering to do it for me for free, might as well take them up on it. So if thats a service that the PTO offers to show their appreciation to the teachers at the school and lets the volunteers know the agenda beforehand then I see no problem with it.
