Hey guys. I have been very, very excited for the last 2-3 months for my trip. Now, as my trip is mere 3 days away, I feel more complacent about it. Maybe the reality has sunk in that I'm going? I know I will have an excellent time there, but am I crazy? Or has this happened to any of you? :upsidedow

This happens to me before every trip! The closer it gets I stop focusing on how much fun I will have and start thinking about everything I have to do to get ready. I call it my pre-trip anxiety. Don't worry about it you'll have a blast!

I have definitely had this happen to me more than once, so you're not alone.:thumbsup2

As to why it happens, I have no idea.:confused3

(Maybe we're just weird.:p )

I get it too. I think msteddom is right. Too much to do before the trip takes over and the excitement goes away for a bit. But don't worry...you will have a great time!

Personally, I consider it the "Mommy" factor of wanting everything to be perfect. The planning is done, but do I have everything packed? If I am flying, is everything in my carry on legal (had some questions about trading pins). Do I have enough books or music to keep the kids quiet through the trip? I think this is perfectly normal. At this point, it is less about the magic and more about reality!
Also, in your case, is the money exchange and how is the exchange rate?

I agree, and it is even worse if you work outside the home. I Don't strart relaxing and enjoying myself until the clothes are unpacked in the hotel room!

Unpack clothes? I thought everyone just lived out of their suitcase like me?

this comes up quite often on the disboards...the longer you stick around the more you notice thread topics like, "i leave tomorrow, and i'm not excited!", or "we leave in 3 days, but i'm not excited like i thought i would be", etc., etc. in the last 6 months, i've probably seen at least a dozen thread titles like these, lol.

and the same thing happened to me before we left in september for our trip to DLR. i typically pack a week in advance (we have 4 kids, and our DL trips have a lot of travel and visit time with relatives along the way, so there's a LOT of packing involved). this last time, i had like 3 days before we were leaving, and STILL hadn't felt motivated to pack.

i'm not sure why this occurs, but it seems pretty common. on our last trip, we actually had a week of visiting and travel before we even made it to DLR, and even the night before, i wasn't overly excited.

so don't stress it! once you've been in the parks for a few hours, you'll probably start feeling the way you think you "should", lol. have fun! (and don't wait till the last minute to pack, like i did!) :rotfl:

You'll be fine...when it gets down to a few days before the trip begins it's "crunch time" and your brain switches from giddy excitement to focusing on all the details you need to take care of to have a perfect vacation. I bet you'll be positively giddy again as soon as you take off for DL :)

Once you get that Disney juice running through you, all your worries melt away! =)

OH, I am SO guilty of this exact thing! I think when it gets closer to the time of the trip I feel like I can't even be bothered. I agree with the others that one just gets overwhelmed with so much to do that it makes ya just wanna give up and stay home! Once I get on the road though, I'm usually fine...well, at least an hour out of town or so I start to reeeeeelax. Have fun and roll with it. "THIS TOO SHALL PASS", as they say.

(P.S. although...who are "they" anyway, and why do they keep talking about us?) :rotfl:

Oh ya, this is totally normal! :) Just don't worry and once you get there everything will change. Once you under that railroad everything changes. :)

It'll come back once you step on the plane.

We leave in one hour, and I have felt this way for the last five days. But, I can say now that everything is loaded in the car - I am again excited for the trip. Don't worry it will come back once you feel like you have everything in control. It is the curse of the uber planner. ;)

I've never had the "not excited, leaving in a few days" feeling but I do get anxious before going. I always seem to have the dream where we're leaving for the airport in a few minutes and I haven't packed a thing! Happens almost every time.

Don't worry-you're normal. Now all you'll have to deal with is the sadness that starts a few days before you leave for home. When you realize your trip is almost over. :sad2:

Me too...always happens...every time! And we are driving down from Seattle on our next trip! We've never driven before...should be interesting! :drive:

Dont' worry - it happens to me too! I think that planning a trip is half my fun, so when the planning is over it's a little sad - until you realize that the reason the planning is over is that you are GOING TO DISNEYLAND :cheer2:

I want to start relaxing even before I'm finished unpacking, but how can I get any Disney juice running through me while I'm still hard at work in the hotel room? Answer: put some Mickey Mouse stickers on a bottle of rum, which can work as a crude but effective stand-in for actual Disney juice. Swill it straight from the bottle and you're on Pirates of the Caribbean before you've even hit the turnstiles.

Just remember to put it on the TOP of your suitcase so you can get at it before you have to start unpacking!

So true. I am so excited when I plan. When I finish, it almost feels like I'm done with the trip itself.
