I've received this same letter twice in the last week. It's suppose to be from Walt Disney Travel Company. Have any of you received it? I'm a very 'Doubting Thomas' and really do not believe it's legit. I'm afraid if I do respond I'll be sent some computer virus or something.

What do you think? :confused3

Sounds like a scheme to get information out of you to me. I would assume you could contact Guest Services or somebody at Disney to see if they have a clue.

I don't think there's a Disney Resort in the UK.

There is no WDW in the UK. That is why Disney makes packages for them to come to Florida that are so sweet. The closest disney property in the UK would be Disney Paris but so does not compare to WDW in Orlando:thumbsup2

I don't think many professional companies would use a yahoo email address.

The 'travel agent' has a yahoo address but the e-mail came from yb@yb.com.tw. Has anyone ever heard of .com.tw?

Is there any way to check it out, to see where it came from. I'm kind of computer illiterate.

Seems very strange that the "from" addy isn't a WDW one, and I agree that a most "real" companies don't use yahoo email addys.

And this makes no sense...

...visit the Walt Disney Resort in UK...entitles you to 14 days of admission to the four disney theme parks

There isn't one Disney park in the UK, much less 4.

I'd say it's a hoax, but if you want to be sure, try contacting the Disney Travel Company through their published info...

I'm sure its a hoax.

the ".tw" is the internet code for Taiwan.

No legitimate business (unless it is a very small business) will have a yahoo email address.

Forward the email to the real Walt Disney Travel Company so that they will know about it.

com.tw: for companies or firms (Taiwanese or foreign) registered under the laws of their country

.tw is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the Republic of China (ROC) (commonly known as Taiwan). The registry is maintained by TWNIC.

No Disney Resorts In The United Kingdom!!! If I were You I Would Forward The Email U Got On To Walt Disney Travel Company..

The originating email address is likely forged. Publicly known email addresses (say, anything on a website) are often forged onto the email header. It appears that it was sent from that address, but it probably wasn't.

As for the yahoo address, nobody working for Disney would be doing business using a yahoo email address. Period.

I work in Law Enforcement and the "@yb.com.tw" on the email has been linked to numerous Nigerian check and email scams here in Georgia. I personally have also received this (or a very similar) email saying virtually the same thing. This is an INTERNATIONAL scam perpetrated by persons in Western African countries, primarily Nigeria, Mali, and Ivory Coast. The Government in these countries allow these individuals to perpetrate these crimes, due to the amount of money and revenue that is brought into the countries from overseas. Much like the war that is fought against drug cartels in Columbia and South America, this too is a losing battle as they are protected by the Government much like the cartels are.

It is ABSOLUTELY a total and complete SCAM! DO NOT reply, DO NOT send anything to that email address! If you get these emails again in the future, delete them and don't open them.

Agents of the Walt Disney Travel Company do not use free Yahoo email addresses to conduct company business; they are all provided with company email addresses. And if you won anything from WDTC, they would contact you by mail, not by email or by phone.

You may want to report the misuse of the free Yahoo email address for the purposes of defrauding people to Yahoo itself. I'm sure they'll want to discontinue the address and prosecute the user immediately.

Thanks Disers!! I knew you'd steer me in the right direction. I was sure it was a hoax, but that small part of me still wanted to believe it could happen to me.
