Got a question for y'all.
I've been recently looking into various exercise programs because I'm tired of being so tired all the time, being told by every doctor I go to to "exercise", being so tense that my back hurts just from tension, etc, etc. So I'm looking into the various programs. But I'd like to do something with my friends, too, since I know they're looking, too. They, like me, don't have the motivation to go constantly once the new wears off, so it has to be something fun.
I found a yoga class that I'm enjoying, but due to the hours it's hard to make it to during a regular week, and my friends don't want to do that. I'll still go when I can, but I thought something that might be fun is country-and-western line dancing. You know, the type you can do without a parnter? My DH does NOT dance -- bump that NOT up a few point sizes, bold it twice, and put it in bright red. So if I'm going to do any dancing, it needs to be something you don't need a partner for.
My friends said that sounded like fun to them and they'd be interested in C&W line dancing if we can find a class anywhere. Mentioned it to my mom and she said "NO WAY! It is totally inappropriate for a married woman to go to a line dancing class without her husband!"
Erm.... we aren't looking at going to bars and singles clubs and that kind of thing, we're looking for a class. Like at a gym or rec center? We were specifically looking at the gym for the office. I also wouldn't be going by myself, we'd attend when all of us could go, so there'd be 3 of us.
So what do y'all think? Is it inappropriate for a female to go to a dance class that does *not* involve partners *without* her partner but with friends? Is that looking for trouble? I can agree with her that going to bars or clubs would be asking for trouble, or trying to go to something that requires partners, but a class?
