Is this going to be a problem?

We are considering a trip with some friends who have never been. They are a family of 6 and trying to make this affordable for them (and us).

The plan:

staying at POR (AB) 2 rooms, 1 of their children staying in our room

The complication:

We will be getting the dining plan, they will not

My solution:

We will pay for the child's (Disney Adult) dining plan and use the extra credits ourselves. We can do a Hoop Dee Doo, a couple CS breakfasts instead of eating in our room, whatever. We usually pay for something OOP anyway.

So, is this breaking any rules? We thought about just leaving her off the reservation all together, but would like her to have her own room key as we will not be spending every day together. Plus, if we are only a party of 4, they may put us in the mansions and that wouldn't work at all.

I realize you cannot share with people not on your reservation, but that's not happening here. I am a little concerned we may leave some meals behind, but the family has even offered to take our kids one night so we can have a night out. That's worth something right there!

I also realize there may be some other non-dining related problems with this as we will not always be keeping the same schedule, but this isn't a done deal yet anyway. Just want to know if it's even possible.

Thanks!

It doesn't look like it will break any rules, you are paying for an adult DDP for a person on your reservation, anyone on that reservation can use the credits. The only issue you may have would be that all of your party's dining credits will be accessible from that child's key card, so you'll have to be sure the other family knows they are not supposed to use them, unless you want them to.

You can ask them at the front desk at the resort to remove the access to the credits from that persons card since it is a child after all. That's what we do with our girls. Their card is only to open the hotel room and park tickets, only dh and I get access to all the meals and snacks.

I was going to suggest the same thing-have the child's KTTW card not be okay for charging.

What kind of dining plan is it? Wouldn't that child's credits be indicated as a child's credit and not an adult's? Not sure if that would matter in your scenario but something to think about.

Removing charging priveledges means the kids will not be able to charge items to the room, it does not mean they will not be able to access dining credits. I have never had dining credits removed from my kids KTTW card so I'm not saying it can't be done, but it's not the same as removing charging priveledges.

The child is a "disney adult" and since they wouldn't be on the dining plan I find it highly unlikely they would accidentally use the dining credits if I couldn't get them removed.

But yes, some things to consider if someone else were to find themselves in a similar situation. Thanks!
