Hello;
I need your opinions please..does anyone think it would be possible to have dinner at 6pm in Epcot and then make it over to MGM to view Osbourne Lights before park closing? I believe the park closes at 8pm that night. What is the latest time they will let you enter the park? Should i try to change my PS to an earlier time? or just show up a little early and hope for the best.....we will only be staying 3 nights and we have plans for the other 2 already. Thanks for your suggestions!

I suppose it's possible, but I think it'd be really tough to make it to MGM in time. Maybe if you get seated right at 6pm and just take an hour for dinner you could get there by 7:30pm, but you don't always get seated right at your PS time and you'd have to rush through dinner.

Its possible. I've read on these boards that as long as you are in by closing, you can see the lights. They stay on for an hour or so after official closing time. When we saw the lights two years ago, we were leaving right at closing and many (hundreds) people were just coming in.

Saying that, you still will be hard pressed to get there by 8. I wouldn't want to try and walk to MGM right after dinner. The boat will take 40 minutes plus the wait time. Plus the time to get out of Epcot (e.g. if you're eating at Norway, it will take a good 15-20 minutes to get to the boat.

Indeed a stretch. Will you have a car? If so (people don't flame me) you could park at the Beach Club - that would give you the best chance of making a quick getaway to the Studios.

thanks for the replies..... :D
gcurling: We're having dinner at Les Chefs AND we are staying at the Beach Club!! So is it looking a little better for us now?? My thinking...try to go to dinner at 5:30, hopefully be done at 7ish and then should we walk, boat or drive? Whaddya think?

You don't mention what day you're going. The closer you are to Christmas, the less possible this becomes. If you're trying to do it during the week between Christmas and New Year's, you won't make it. The crowds are simply too large to navigate quickly.

If you MUST eat at Chefs and you MUST see the Lights, I would change my Chefs PS to lunch and then head over to the Studios at dusk instead of trying to cram a nice dinner, travel time, and seeing the lights all into the last couple of hours of your day.

I would think your best bet would be walking from Epcot to MGM. I would not even attempt to drive--the last time I tried to get to MGM by disney bus in time to see fantasmic in early Dec, the traffic was HORRIBLE--in the bus, we sat for 15 minutes after we turned in off of the road (they have changed the traffic pattern since then). The boats may work if one arrives just as you are leaving, or if you see one approaching. Boats are a more leisurely trip--they don't go quickly from point A to point B

WDSearcher: the day in question is Wed. Dec 8th (!!!) Hopefully the crowds will be ok at that time...

Thanks for all of the suggestions - i'll try to adjust the PS accordingly - BTW, IF we decide to take the walk from Epcot....is it better/faster to walk on the BW side OR the BC/YC side to get to MGM? If its a nice evening nothing beats a nice walk to counter the over indulging!

It is better to head towards the Boardwalk. You can then take the shortcut through the pool area.
