Is this even possible?...Cindy's Castle...

My dh and I were out to dinner last week and we ran into a woman that my dh knew from high school (his friend dated her, not my dh). Anyway, she was having dinner with her husband (third marriage for her), and we got to talking about Disney, and they said how next year they were taking their 2yo dd to Disney for her 3rd bday, and they reserved Cindy's Castle for her. I told them that they couldn't make ressies earlier than 90 days prior to their arrival, but they informed me that they didn't just make ressies, they reserved the WHOLE restaurant JUST for their 3yo dd!! So that she could have the princesses to herself!! I practically fell on the floor laughing! I can't imagine that Disney would allow that. Plus the EXPENSE! Ugh, these people made me want to throw up. That's all they wanted to talk about was how much they spent on this and that. Yick....

I know we've had companies rent it out, but NORMAL PEOPLE? WOW....

The craziest I saw was a family took up a whole section (like 8 tables or so) and had a 4 tiered multicolored Disney-made birthday cake that took 2 tables to set up! complete with figurines and snowglobes

Wow we just ate lunch at CRT on the free dining plan and for my 2 children and myself it would have been $87 (1 is a child at WDW the other is a Disney Adult - 11 yrs old). Assuming that most people would spend about twice what we would have and if there were 20 families an hour (and I suspect there are many more than that) and if lunch were served over a 4 hour period, the price of renting out the Castle for lunch should be about $12480.00 without tip and tax. Personally I can think of MUCH better ways to spend $12,480 than reserving a whole castle for a child who won't remember the experience past kindergarten. Besides, it can't be as much fun without all the other happy families there enjoying the meals and princesses.

Considering that people spend $50,000 or more for a wedding at WDW, I don't think that is unusual. Even for a birthday. If you can afford it, do it.

Let's face it- that lady's not normal.

She could make normal reservations for her kid and donate the rest to hurricane victims or another charity and teach her kid how to share and have compassion instead of the materialistic "gotta have it" values she's teaching.

I think it's sad.

It was a promotion disney was having during sept and oct to boost attendance. You could add the dining plan that includes 1 table service , 1 counter service, and 1 snack a day to your hotel package for no additional cost. You had to book by August 20th though.

It's certainly possible - but improbable. It would cost many, many thousands of dollars to do so and I just don't see unless their last name is Firestone or Rockefeller it actually happening. People rent out attractions and areas of the park all the time.

Very curious to hear how it turns out...though I bet we never will, hehe.

Yes, there are weddings and wedding receptions that take place at the castle (although I'm not sure if they're doing them at the moment), but they take place in the evening, after the park closes. At least, I'm pretty sure they do.

As another poster said, possible, but improbable (and would love to see how it turns out!).

Things aren't always as they appear. Some people don't have a clue about money and they will do things like this for appearances when they really can't afford it.

This happens very often with weddings. I've seen people who had $100K weddings taking out 15 year or 30 year loans to finance them. It amazes me how anyone would want to finance a one day event like they would finance a house. I just don't get it.

Maybe she is just that well off, but it is also possible she just lied to "keep up appearances." Whatever the case, I say "SMILE AND NOD!"

Okay......who's going to call and see how much THAT would cost! I can hardly believe Disney would even rent out the castle...........that would be unheard of. Unless it was after hours maybe.

I'm getting married at Disney World December 4th at the Wedding Pavilion and yes in the past, couples have been able to use the castle for their ceremony and reception but the cost just for the for castle was like 50,000. I have known couples that have had their wedding there and with the costs & everything, they were well over 150,000!!! Also, brides would pay to have certain rides running! That would be awesome to have the Magic Kingdom to yourself!!

They said they are not holding any ceremonies or receptions at the Castle until year 2007 but yes there are many brides out there that are willing to pay that kind of cash. I say if it is your dream, go for it.
