"Is this Disney World?" Daniel's MAW trip report!

"Lets just say when Billy and I got off the Bus we left puddles in our seats!!!!"

That is too funny! When we were there in December, on our very last morning we had an ADR for breakfast with Lilo and Stitch at the Polynesian. We got drenched and wound up walking into that resort like drowned rats! I was discouraged AND embarrassed!

Ick!! I sooooo feel for you!! Fortunately, we were headed back to the hotel anyway so changing clothes was in our near future!!!!

:cool1:What a great trip so far! The kids look like they are having a blast!

All righty - Tuesday was our Magic Kingdom day - the day everyone was looking forward to for 1 reason or another - this is what Disney was to Hoss and Shelly and what the kids knew the most about. Billy and I got to the park early (just missed rope drop - BUMMER) and he got a haircut at the barber shop!!

At about 9:30 we got a call from Sarah that they were in the parking lot. It took them till 10:30 to get to us!! Here is the reason. As they were trying to get on a shuttle in the parking lot 3 different times people stepped OVER Daniel's wheelchair to get onto the shuttle ahead of them - can you believe that????:headache::mad::scared1: Hoss said it took everything in him to not say something to those people. But anyway, we didnt let that ruin our day!!! We had set out to wear our Mickey Tie Dye shirts, and it made it very easy to spot us! We got soooo many compliments and questions about where we had purchased them :goodvibes.
20100425_141.jpg

There was a good morning parade ending on Main Street, but we pulled over when Samanthat Screamed "MOUSE!!!!!!"

20100425_144.jpg

Can anyone remember what Dan had said he wanted to do at Disney with Bill? Can you guess where we went next? You got it - Buzz Lightyear!! We wanted to do it again, but never got back to it!!
20100425_152.jpg

after this we did the rocket ships - which scared John and he would only ride along the bottom (I was his partner on this ride) and then we did Space Mountain (Billy stayed with Samantha) which John really didnt like - poor guy - but he was funny about it. The rest of us LOVED it, especially Stephen and Daniel!! Next was the race cars which the boys loved because they were actually driving...we put Stephen and I in a car in front, then Daniel and Billy followed by Hoss and John so we wouldnt risk Daniel's car getting rear ended ( has that ever happened to you - you really get jolted!!!)

20100425_163.jpg

20100425_164.jpg

Next it was on to Columbia Harbor House for lunch. We needed to keep Daniel (and the rest of us) well fed and watered and it was HOT and Sunny this day!! Chicken Fingers and Pizza were the 2 things that we could all agree on, so it was Chicken Fingers turn!!They were so nice to us here. As soon as they saw Dan, one of the hostess mentioned that there was less crowded seating upstairs. So John and Stephen and I went upstairs and found a spot. A worker offered to hold it for us while we told the others. Then the hostess brought Daniel up in the elevator. A really nice worker named Michael was just so sweet to us. He talked to us and made sure we didnt need anything - he would have brought Daniel a dessert, but he didnt like the choices - lol!

20100425_168.jpg

We next headed to Frontier land for some mountain fun. There was NO WAY John was going to get onto any more mountains though!!! So we went to that little play area under the train station by Splash. He and Sammy played while Sarah and I watched and the others went on Splash, then we switched. Big Thunder was having technical difficulties though - BUMMER!!
20100425_171.jpg

We caught a bit of the 3pm parade and EVERYONE just loved it - the kids were all smiling and laughing and pointing out characters - it was one of those choking up moments for Aunt Wendy - to think that we were all here together enjoying this!!! Now to Pirates of the Carribean!!!!! As we got there and went to get in line, Shelly, Sarah and Samantha kept going straight, they didnt want to do pirates to our dismay!! So all the guys and me ("We want the RED HEAD"!!!) got in line for the ride - for some reason, you dont really get to pass this line but it was okay because it was inside. We had a good time and enjoyed the ride for sure!!! But, when we got off.......Where did they go????? We couldnt find the girls anywhere in the area. I decided to take the boys on Aladdin's carpet ride - BY MYSELF - had to keep them from punching each other in line (I dont have siblings, so cant understand this - billy tells me its common amoung brothers). Hoss had put his cell phone in the diaper bag. They searched and searched the area...we got of Aladdin and then went into the Tiki Room - one of my FAVORITE moments with the 3 boys all by myself - lol - they LOVED this and were just cracking up the entire time!!! Finally, Billy called the mom of one of Sarah's friends and asked her to text her daughter to text Sarah about where they were!! Guess what? They were on the Carousel in Fantasyland!! So we took this picture and headed over to meet them..do the carousel, dumbo etc...

After this we tried to pull the sword and rode a few more rides such as its a small world after all....(the song is stuck in your head now isnt it - lol)

By this time Daniel was fading fast. It was a little before 7 and we asked him if he wanted to go and rest or eat. He thought having something to eat would revive him and he wanted chicken fingers AGAIN!! So back to CHH again. Michael was there again and this time also give us all 1st time visitor buttons and sang to Daniel!! Very special treatment here!!!
20100425_186.jpg
.

We hung out at CHH for a while as it was cool and quiet inside - we were just hanging out and having fun. We then went on Peter Pan, saw Philharmagic and then hung out for Spectromagic. We broke out a million glow sticks and our ponchos (it was raining lightly, but then stopped). They were able to go into the wheelchair seating with Daniel, but they wouldnt let us stay with them so we just stayed nearby. Everyone was EXHAUSTED but like Spectro - they walked out right after Spectro and we stayed for Wishes....what a GREAT day!!!!

Next up- Dolphins, Whales, Screams and what can Stephen fall into at Sea World???????

I am SO loving your trip report. I can;t wait to read more. I am on the edge of my seat reading this feeling like I was right there with you. I am so glad everyone was having a wonderful time.

Well we had planned on staying at Pop again but my mom might drive up and join us for the week since she lives 2 hours away. if she comes up then we will have to stay at all star music in a family suite. I am very excited. and Can;t wait, these next 6 months, I am hoping will fly by.

What a great day!!!!

Your shirts look awesome!!! I cannot believe you couldn't stay with the rest of the group for Spectro. You were obviously all together.

How wonderful that they took such great care of you at CHH. I really like it there. Didn't know there was an elevator-love sitting on the 2nd floor.

Sounds like you got a lot done for such a large group and the crowds. I often find it a challenge to get my familiy of 5 all moving in the same direction.

Wendy...

Was Dan IN his wheelchair on the Safari? If so, they usually don't do the broken bridge thing...

My DS8 (at the time) refused to take his stroller/wheelchair past the regular drop off for strollers... He likes the shaky bridge. The driver has the option of triggering it or not.

Great trip report Wendy! YOu all look great in your customs, but I really love the Mickey tie-die, the colors photographed so well.

Yikes! One picture on the photopass CD? At least it’s a good one!

What a great giraffe picture! I can never get good pictures on that ride!

Teresa and I got kid’s meals at Pizza Planet on our kidless trip. So, we’re right there with yah!

How special that the kids all wanted you to sit by them! I would want to sit by you, too!

I love the video of Samantha clapping and dancing- so sweet!

That picture from primeval “hurl” Is great!

Poor little Samantha looks SO hot in the stroller!

My kids love pin trading and don’t really care what they trade for either.

What a fabulous picture of Main Street! It’s so bright and sunshiny! I want to be there!

Who on earth would step over a kid in a wheelchair to get on the shuttle in front of them? That is unbelievable!

I got choked up during our big family trip when we were watching the 3pm parade (we were kind of far away, but watching it anyway). I was just so happy to be there with them. I love that we did the same thing!

How funny that they disappeared to the carousel!

One of these days I want to see someone pull the sword out of the stone!

I’ve never eaten at CCH. Now I’ll have to! That is so cool how well they treated you all.

I love the pics of John and Stephen with the sword. Their expressions are priceless.

You and Bill are too cute! I can see why the kids wanted to be with you. ;)

Y'all had an amazing day! Your treatment at CHH was incredible! Isn't that what makes DW so special and stand out from all the other Amusement Parks? My kids got rear ended on the race cars. My oldest son was NOT happy about it! I took all four of mine on that ride by myself. None of us were happy when we got off. That is definitely a two-parenter! My kids loved Buzz too! they wanted to go back on it, but we never had the time either. I chalk that up as one of the reasons we'll have to go back someday! Now, ON TO SEAWORLD!

I agree - the Tie Dye Mickey's are awesome - just like everything else that was so lovingly made for us - It feels so special to have someone make something exactly for you - that they would care so much to do that! thank you friends!!

They were only going to let 5 people into the wheelchair area and I asked pretty please if they could at least allow all the children to go in the area with their parents to be together for this special event. It wasnt a huge deal, and we really were only around the circle a bit farther - Stephen ended up coming over to be with Aunt Wendy and Uncle Bill right as the parade was coming - I had such fun helping to hold him up so he could stand on the railing and see.

Hi Nini - no, he had parked his WC and walked on the ride - I wonder if they didnt do it because they saw him come out of the wheelchair? I would just have LOVED to see John's face if he thought the bridge was breaking - :rotfl: (please dont take that as mean - it would just be a priceless expression)!!!!

Great trip report Wendy! YOu all look great in your customs, but I really love the Mickey tie-die, the colors photographed so well.

I would encourage anyone to make them or buy them - it really helped us to keep track of each other - so easy to spot. Although, this was the day we lost the girls!!!!!

Heather - CHH was great - everyone loved the chicken fingers and Billy and Shelly had the Fish fingers and said they were awesome too!!!! We felt very very special there!! It was much calmer than Pecos Bills too, and cool!! Upstairs was fairly quiet too!!!:cutie:

Your Magic Kingdom day sounds quite magical. Glad you'll enjoyed it and that you finally found the girls. That was quite a ways to wander without you'll!

I love all the pictures. I couldn't see them earlier. Can't wait to see more. It looks like a great trip.

Wendy,

We saw Dan and his family all over GKTW. Rode the carousel with them at least twice! Didn't make the connection until now, but kept on looking at them knowing that I should be able to somehow place them! In fact, when I complemented them on their tie-dye tees on the GKTW carousel, I pretty much thought they were Big Give tees!

How exciting to get to read the TR now! Thanks!

Thankjs for reading along everyone! I felt that you were all very close to me on this trip, and thought of you all often!! We had chosen today to wear our really cool Philadelphia Eagles Mickey shirts - and we got comments on them even at SeaWorld!! A very special someone made this day extra special for Billy and I and to that we are grateful!! Thank you so much!!!

So, we are at Wednesday already!! Where is the time going? Today was our day to go to Sea World. Daniel was unable to get an early start today, although he seems to get stronger all the time, his batteries dont recharge full or as quickly as they used to right now. So, Billy and I got to Sea World and hung out at the Dolphin Nursery for a while - then, as we were getting ready to go watch a show, Sarah called and said that they were in the parking lot (it was about 11am)!!! YAY!!!! We were greated with big hugs from Stephen and high 5's from John. The kids had all ridden a horse at GKTW that morning before coming to Sea World (thus the cowboy hats).
20100425_306.jpg

We then left Stephen, John and Samantha with Bill and went over to try to ride Manta - it was having technical difficulties, so we didnt get to ride!! This was something I had really wanted to try!!!!! Boo Hoo...oh well. We got the kids and Bill and went into a little aquarium. John decided to make fish faces himself!!! lol
20100425_321.jpg

We then wandered over to pet the stingrays. I honestly thought Stephen was going to fall in!! He was pretty wet after trying to pet them. He even found some "food" just floating in the tank, caught it and tried to feed the stingrays. Hoss was the only one who actually got one to eat his fish - it was sooooo funny when the sting ray took it from him!!! They all really did get to pet one!! They kinda freak me out since the Steve Irwin thing!!
20100425_323.jpg

20100425_342.jpg

We then moved over to watch the dolphins. We had missed feeding time though but enjoyed watching both above and below the water!! Hoss, Daniel and Sarah (and me) really enjoy watching the dolphins!! The first picture makes me well up with tears at the thought of how Daniels cancer affected not only him, but his big sister. They were always very close and are even closer now. Sarah always had a lot of difficulty thinking of her brother being in a hospital bed - to enjoy this together now was priceless!!
100_1174.jpg

100_1180.jpg

Now off to the dolphin show!! At the entrance we came in ( bottom of the theater) the handicapped seating wasnt so great, so Billy and Hoss helped Daniel to climb the steps for a better view. We really enjoyed this show - the animals were AMAZING as were the acrobats/divers!!!
100_1191.jpg

20100425_363.jpg

Next up was lunch at a pizza place. Then we rode Kracken and Journey to atlantis. Billy was again gracious and kept the little kids (Samantha had fallen asleep right before lunch). We then went into the shark encounter!! Woooooooo!!!
Shelly refuses to wear hats - but her hubby got her!!!!!! We all were laughing so hard. Hoss mentioned that they hadnt been so happy in such a long time.......
100_1237.jpg

20100425_389.jpg

We then went to Shamu's happy harbor and played. Then Billy, Hoss and Daniel went to wild artic and then we all went to Believe at 5:30 - the day had gone so quickly!!!!! The Ogram family drummers....

20100425_418.jpg

20100425_427.jpg

What an AWESOME show!!!!

I also forgot to mention - you know how they have those fences around the alligator pond? Well, Stephen is just so fast..he climbed up one and was on the flat part peering at the gators just as Billy grabbed the back of his shirt!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Good catch Bill!!
100_1185.jpg

Up next - The night is young...what should we do? Lightsabers anyone?????:woohoo:
