Is this cutting it too close?

We're planning our Disneymoon and first trip to WDW! Very exciting, had our FP+ day today.

We were planning on doing a day at Animal Kingdom, and then heading over to Jiko for dinner at 5:05. I have a 6:05-7:05 FP for FoP. Is there enough time here to eat and come back?

Jiko will probably take you an hour plus just to eat, plus you need like 15-20 minutes to get back to AK via bus/MinnieVan, then go through bag check etc. I'd say you probably don't have enough time to do both. Can you move Jiko 20 minutes earlier to give you some more padding?

I would try to move your reservation at Jiko. It is such a wonderful restaurant and you will want to enjoy it and not feel rushed. If you plan on ordering more than one course then you will most definitely not have enough time. We were there for about 2 hours but we ordered appetizers, dinner and dessert and had short discussions with the waitress over food selections and which wine to choose (she was great!). Maybe see if there is a dining reservation AFTER your FastPass?

Agreed. Not nearly enough time. Jiko is a dining experience and while Disney does a great job in getting people in and out, Jiko is a signature restaurant that normally takes just a little bit more time.
Plus adding in transportation, even if it's a MinniVan, like the PP stated, you need at least 10-15 to get there and through the park to FoP. It would be uncomfortably tight for me personally.

Not enough time. Your reservation is at 5:05 which does not necessarily mean you will be seated at that exact time.

I'd try to dine AFTER FOP if possible, I mean you're going to want to digest that meal to some degree before going on a simulator...or I would want to digest.

I agree with this idea. I'd do FOP at c. 6 PM, and re-schedule Jiko for c. 7:30 PM so you can thoroughly enjoy a leisurely dinning experience. Far less stressful, you'll have plenty of time for wine &/or coffee after dinner, and you can end the evening with a night time viewing of the animals at AKL.

Sit downs just add 2 hours. So yes that's too close.
If you want really great food, Tiffins in AK is great. I've had nothing but great meals there. Jiko is great as well, stay at AK all the time, but I'm not leaving the parks except for Califonia Grill.
Every other park IMO has at least one really excellent fine dining option. I like the BR at HS and Epcot has many.

I'm sure Tiffins is great, but later on our Disneymoon we're going to be doing Backstage Magic and I'm not going to eat Tiffins twice. I'm kind of boxed in with FoP, this was the earliest I could get, but I can possible juggle the days around.

I can understand that, you might be able to juggle that Jiko reservation to give yourself more time just keep checking.
You can't miss with any of the AKL restaurants (Jiko, Boma and Sanaa) and Tiffins at AK are all very good.
Hope it works out.

I'd even consider doing QS for prior to FoP for something to tide you over until a later res at Jiko.

We see so many people who book expensive dining experiences then book FP+ that barely give them time to eat their meal. Don't you get what eating at places like Jiko is about? It's not counter service or grab and go, it's about relaxing and enjoying the food, atmosphere and experience. I'm constantly questioning why people pay out the sort of money they do when they plan to rush it and not take time to truly enjoy it.
One plus about your plans as they currently stand, if you eat the meal so fast so you can get to your FOP FP then you will have a good chance that you'll end up seeing it again later on.

Thanks for your judgey attitude, yes, I "get" what dining at places like Jiko is about. The amount of time in between is more than enough for the two of us, who have indeed eaten at several fine establishments over the country and at other Disney parks. We don't drink alcohol, which is what half the people have suggested waiting around for, but I am sure that you will probably say something about how we don't "get" the experience sans drinks either. This is a question about transportation time really, not asking for permission on how long we need to really "get" the dining experience.

To everyone else, thanks, we've come up with an alternative solution.

Book Jiko later in the evening. Take your time. Enjoy it. It's a great restaurant.

Plus consider if you get motion sickness after eating and then will go on FoP 🙈

Have a fab time ☺️
