I hate to ask this, but I've read too many reports here about faulty information coming from the CMs at MS.

I called to add my parents' names to the last night of our reservation in two weeks. They have their own room through December 24th. They need a room on the 24th, so we are just adding them to our room for our last night. We are not above occupancy, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I asked here a couple of weeks ago, and the responders told me it should be easy to call and add them. The CM I just spoke with said that she would have to "break" our reservation into two, having the 24th as a separate night. Then we could add my parents' names. She said it would be easier to just have them check out on the 24th and add their names to our room at the front desk. I asked her if they could still use ME if we added them at the desk; she said it wouldn't be a problem to add ME that day.

My questions are:

1) Would you wait until the 24th when they check out to add their names? Obviously we don't need their names on the reservation to be able to let them sleep in there. We don't use the DDP, so we aren't affecting this. We only need them on the reservation in case we use EMH and of course for ME.

2) Can we really wait until the day before to add ME? I don't want to mess up the "flow" of the buses by adding 4 extra people.

Thanks for any feedback you can offer. I want to do this in the easiest way possible without messing up our reservations.

Call again and get a different CM. You should be able to add guests names to the room. Note, if you want, you can just add their names for the whole time and then they can show up the last night. That might be the problem the CM was having with the computer system which may reject adding names for only one night even though you should be able to do it; but again adding them for whole time is fine.

If your parents are staying at the same resort I don't think you should add them to your ressie for the whole stay. They will appear to have double booked and their ressie could get canceled. Do they have ME ressie now? If so I would call after they are on your room and change the date. Good luck.

if they already have ME, then just call MS and have them alter their ME date to the next day. Shouldn't be a problem at all. And then they can just sleep that night in your room and leave the next day. Since they are checking out of the one room on the 24th, their KTTW card will still be valid that day so they can use EMH. Unless they need EMH access on the 25th as well?
If that's the case then add them to your room on the 24th at the front desk.

I think the CM gave decent advice.

I would either add them to the reservation for the whole time since you aren't doing the DDP and book ME now or add them at the front desk and then book ME. Since they would not be a lead on the reservation there won't be any concern over double booking. And I've scheduled or changed ME the day before more than once without trouble.

Thanks everyone. I didn't want to add them to our room for the whole stay in case it would cause "confusion" for the computer since they already have a room at the same resort. I will probably just wait to add ME and them when we get to that day.

Assuming no dining plan, I'd just wait and add them maybe a couple of days ahead. I agree with above, talk to ME to see if you can go ahead and modify their departure. If so, that would be the simplest, if not, I'd add them at check in and go ahead and contact ME at that time but after they have already checked in to their room for the first part of the trip.
