Is this correct? 1st grade language homework question

My 1st grade DD brought home her pre-printed homework for Language tonight. They are always given a sentence they have to re-write. Not make any changes, just periods, capitalization etc.
Well, the sentence tonight is "what time are it". OK Am I crazy, or is that COMPLETELY incorrect!

It's about as correct as:
"Is our children learning?"

Typo. Don't you just love it when you get something for homework that hasn't been proofread in about a hundred years and the same typo keeps showing up and showing up? Oh yeah-it is incorrect.

I would change the wording in that sentence - i've never heard that said before and I can't picture any situation where it would be correct.

I asked because I though that too but it would be a bit early for 1st graders. This teacher is known for having very low expectations of her class. Thankfully my Mom is a retired elementary school teacher and can help us get DD on track (Thank God).
I am going to send the teacher an email regarding this and I just froze thinking maybe grammer changed in the last 30 years and I am all wrong.
This same teacher started randomly sending home stuff they were supposed to copy in D'enelian and then block -on the same dang paper. DD was really confused over that one.

Cool! We have lived here for 15 years this month. The population has more than quadrupled during that time. You probably would not recognize it.
Still a great town though (we are still a town- for now anyway).
