Is this an allergy?

OMG, I hope someone knows what's wrong with me! All of a sudden, my arms & face (and god knows where else) has turned bright red & is burning & I'm itching TERRIBLY.... I don't have any raised area's like hives, but just completely bright red & I feel like I'm hot & itchy...

I just took four advil in case it's a fever... this is god awful... anything to do for the itchiness? Any suggestions?

Niacin can cause those symptoms. If that's what is causing it, it should go away on it's own.

benadryl, then calamine lotion on them. Maybe try some aloe if they are 'hot'? Then get to your doctor as soon as you can.

Have you started any new meds lately? Did you eat something today you haven't had in a while?

Sometimes I get that way from my allergies. Another thing to help with instant relief while waiting for the Benadryl to get into your system is get a cold wash cloth and place on the areas. It really does help. Just don't scratch or rub yourself with the wash cloth. You can even put some ice on the other side of the wash cloth if you need to have it even colder.

I agree, benadryl and call your doctor. Also, if it is some kind of reaction, be careful about nsaids. Advil, any asprin, any otc painkiller except tylenol is included in that category. I recently developed a sensitivity to those. Take care!

I just wanted to update the thread... It seems to have been an allergy... I took two Benadryl, took some ice to my arms and then went to bed... Benadryl knocks me out badly!

What a way to have spent my Saturday, BLECH!
