Is this acceptable??

I purchased some books at a book fair back in June. At the time, we were in a much better financial situation than we are now, and they came to $185.

Well, now in November, the charge shows up on my credit card. I can't find one previously, so I don't think it is a double charge, but it seems odd to me to wait so long to post it.

Now, we are in a different position financially, and find ourselves owing this money to our credit card. I guess we have to pay it, since we did buy the books, and I do agree that I owe the money, it just seems wrong of the company to do business this way.

I think something and don't know how to phraze it. duh.

credit card companies have a certain timeframe to post something to your account. 6 months comes to mind, maybe it is 6 weeks.

Someone, anyone? I once stayed at a hotel nearby on Thanksgiving and my cc was not charged until mid January.

I had this happen to me once. I stayed at a Hilton Hotel in New York in July one year, and the charge never appeared on my bill. I waited and waited, and thought maybe they just forgot to charge me. It finally showed up on my credit card statement the following January. But it wasn't the right amount--they charged me for $40 in mini bar charges that I didn't use. I called them, adn they fixed it no problem. I just thought it was funny that it took so long for the charges to show.

Well, it is certainly inconvenient for you, but unfortunately, I think it is acceptable. I'm sorry that the bill comes at a bad time for you.

They probably realized they hadn't charged you during an audit and went ahead and charged you. Unfortunetly the only thing you can do is call your Credit Card Company and ask their policy on length of time between transaction and actually being charged.
