I got a letter today saying that the slide at the Beach Club is going to be closed while we are there in May. At first I thought it was no big deal and now I am really bummed. The letter said that the Boardwalk pool is available to use and they will have a shuttle but it doesn't really appeal to me.

Should I be bummed or just realized its no big deal?

I never use the slides at any of the pools so I'd vote "no big deal." Aren't the slides for kids?

We received the same letter and will arrive the afternoon before the slide closes (May 4th). We were a little bummed but, hey, what are we gonna do, right? I wish they would have refurbed the slide in January when the air temps are colder and maybe not as many people use the pool/slide but I don't make the maintenance schedules (but doesn't it make more sense?). So, when we arrive on the 4th my kids will just have to use that slide like there's no tomorrow (because basically there won't be). I can't see us shuttling over to BWV to use their pool, we'll just enjoy a slide-less SAB.

The pool at the Beach Club has so much other fun stuff, it's really not a big deal. We were there once when the slide was closed, and all it meant was we could swim and play in that area w/o having to worry about people landing on our heads. I wouldn't worry about it too much - and it might mean less ppl in SAB, which could only be a good thing!! :hippie:

I don't think it's a big deal, but I'm sure there are huge fans of the pirate slide and they will think it's terrible. I was more upset when the villa pool was at VWL was closed, I enjoy that pool with it's springs. I would be much more unhappy if SAB was being refurbished when we were there, but given enough time, I'm sure that will happen someday too.

I hope you and your family can still enjoy the BCV, it's a great place!

Hey - if anyone swims over by the slide while it is closed, will you see if you can find my nephew's glasses?:rotfl2:

This would be a really big deal to my 6 yr old, he loves that slide.

The pool and slide were in heavy use MLK weekend, when it wasn't that pleasant getting out of the pool to do the long trek to get to the slide.

Just be thankful that the "pool" itself is still open :) My heart skipped a beat when I got the letter too.. I waitlisted FOREVER for BCV just so we can enjoy SAB in May.. I can live without the slide but neeeeeeeed the rest of SAB:cloud9:
