Is this a new policy?

The one at AKV was totally wrong when we were there in June. When we got to the bus stop the time said a bus would arrive about five minute after we got there. It continued to change to a later time in 1-2 minute increments while we were waiting. We waited well over a 1/2 hour before a MK bus finally showed up.

From your description, it doesn't sound like the display was wrong.
It sounds like the MK bus that was dispatched to your location was rerouted or had other difficulties/delays on the way.

In regards to the OPs point I think the resort TV and the one hour thing is sort of correct. Buses start running very early (0645) for those that have pre-opening reservations for breakfast. Disney don't want people to catch the bus at 7am and wait outside the park for two hours, the very early buses are only designed for those with breakfast reservations. Therefore the TV channel is encouraging you to only be at the bus stop an hour to 45 mins before opening as this will get you to the park in good time for opening.

Knowing what many of us know about the general reliability of "guest-facing" WDW provided transportation info, that's unlikely.

And, (depending on time-of-year and other variables) being at the bus stop 45 minutes before posted opening time for MK could very
likely get you there too late to be in a position to enjoy for the MK Welcome show.
Also, over the past two-three years, Epcot, DHS and DAK have have widely-raninging
times of the gates opening. (Some days, as early as 30 minutes before the posted opening times.)
Which, again, speaks to the low reliability of the "info" to keep up with the many changes in park policies.

Bus timing is frequently reported incorrectly. I can't tell you how many times we are waiting at 7:15 AM for an EMH park only to see buses for 9:00 AM parks pull up before ours arrives.

Could they have been for pre-opening breakfast ADRs?

They stuck the one at POR there due to all the whining I'll bet. We never had a problem at South Depot.

Not sure what you mean. What wining at the South Depot? Been there many times and never noticed wining. I could easily be wrong, but I think the POR south depot may have been one of the very first, if not THE first to get this screen as a test of this system. Great addition IMO.

The resort TV has always been wrong about the buses in the mornings.

Why would the Disney corporation continue to allow bad information be put out on the Resort TV when so many rely on that medium to plan their stay? Is it impossible to correct?

We have experienced similar frustration early in the morning waiting for our park bus.

Why is the "official" WDW website so poorly edited and managed (and often inaccurate?)
Why is FP+ I.T. system so glitchy?

Lots of "whys."

Specific that…
Someone at Resort TV would first have to know (or be notified) that the info was inaccurate.

Recall from years ago having received bad information about the bus system. By these postings it seems nothing has changed. Have almost given up on the bus system and use a car most of the time to get to the parks. That said, would like to ride the bus if we had any confidence in the schedule.

The buses run from well before any park opening to well after park closing and arrive about every 20 minutes, sometimes more sometimes less. That's all the confidence in the schedule I've ever needed.

I can tell you that the info you get on this board is correct, and has been for years.
If someone gives bad advice, it only takes a few minutes for others to pop in and correct it.
Contrast that with the "Disney source" info (in a vacuum,) where if it is incorrect, you're stuck with it.

I used to rent a car at WDW, but have not done so for years, now.
We ride the buses and get anywhere we want to go…
on time… regardless of the earliness or lateness of the hour.

If you want to know a specific route and timing, ask away.
(On this board, or the DIS Transportation Forum.)

Bingo!

Yup, the "whys" drive many of the postings on the DIS boards. Why is a world wide multi billion dollar organization apparently so willing to neglect an important part of their operation that interacts directly with the people that are loyal to and willing to spend tons of money with Disney?

My reference is to the postings regarding buses at the resorts for Extra Magic Hours. Like other posters, standing at the resort bus stop waiting for transportation to the park with an early opening, yet seeing bus after bus going to other parks for the normal operating hours is confusing. One would think that a park that opens an hour before the others would also have buses that are scheduled to operate accordingly. Does not alway happen, hence the bewilderment.

I don't disagree, and I've experienced the same thing. The buses come when they come, and I guess I am served by an abundance of patience. ;)

Apparently.

All this week, Pop Century Buses have been about 10-15 minute waits. EMH parks had buses ready early in the morning; we found them at the bus stop waiting for passengers the 3 mornings we got to the parks early.

You've got to figure in the distance to the parks from your resort - MK is the longest trip for us, so we expect the buses to take at least 20 minutes to show up. Never has been that long, but since it's further away than HS or Epcot, we figure it takes longer to do a full loop. They have more buses on the loop, maybe?

The way the buses are now routed (via GPS and computer) they don't necessarily assign buses to a given "loop" anymore.

They determine the "transportation needs" based on several factors and dispatch X number of buses to run Y routes.
