Is this a good price?

5 Days, 4 nights from the east coast to Vegas (Encluding airfare), staying at the Paris Resort mid August. Two people $900 total.

Good price, or should we hold out longer?

Without knowing where you are coming from and how much is for the hotel vs airfare, it's hard to say. You are almost always better off booking airfare separate from room rather than a package.

Very few people go to Las Vegas for vacation in mid August due to the extreme heat so rooms are pretty cheap then. I've always found it much better to hold off booking Las Vegas rooms as the prices go down the closer it gets.

I've heard that booking seperatly is better, but when I've done the numbers, its always higher. The $900 is a package from expedia. My problem is, we are on the east coast, most likely going out of Newark, and the airfare is so high no matter where I look. I also will NOT do connecting flights. No way, no how! LOL

what days of the week are you going? Sun-Thurs nights are usually much much cheaper than Fri/Sat nights. The same room that is $60-80 during the week is often double or triple that over the weekend.

I've been in August (DH had a trip for work) and it is butt hot, over 100 every day. We didn't walk around nearly as much as when we've been in late September or October.

We are planning on going Mon-Fri. I know the adverage high is something like 102 in August!! I'm ok with heat, especially since its a "dry heat" and hopefully it will be better at night so we really can walk around, and just spend the days lying around the pool. I'd love to go in Sept / Oct, but we are going for my birthday, and its in August.

Try the airlines too. I fly from ISP and SWA has some great deals usually.

I hate to say it, but it doesn't get much better at night. The temperature drops at night--to 95!!!

That was the one thing that I found was a bummer about Vegas in the summer, the heat doesn't break at night like it does back East.

As for the price, if it includes all taxes and fees, it's not too bad. If you work it out to about $250/ticket for the airfare, it's about $100/night for the room.

Sure, you might be able to score $150 plane tickets and a $79/night room at Paris, but then again, you might not. Getting this up front may be a nice way to hedge your bets and just have it done with.
