I was quoted a price of 3849.00 to stay at the POR from March 19th to March 26th.
This is for 5 people.
2 adults
and a 16 yr old, 12 yr old, and 9 yr old.

This included park tickets, the bottom level dining plan, trip insurance, and the room with the 4/3 special.

I also have accumulated 600.00 (approx) on my disney visa in disney points.
SO,

Does the above sound like a good deal?
I was thinking if I dropped the dining plan and just put the 600.00 disney points I have towards buying food, that could drop us down even more.
Hmm..
I never know if I am getting a good deal or not. I hope that someone here who has been to disney a ton of times can let me know what they think.

Thanks in advance!!!

Your best bet is to go to disneyworld.com and price it there without the 4/3 deal and then price it with the 4/3 deal and see what the savings are.

Sounds a bit off to me. Our trip is just over $3200, then we will get the $200 card so the total will be just over $3000.

We have 5, dh and I, one 10 year old (adult),and 6 and 3.

We are also staying at POR, have water parks and more and have regular dining (middle).

Sounds a bit off to me too. DH, me, DD15, DD11, and DD8 are staying at POR with the same special from May 8 - May 15 and we were quotes somewhere around $3,100 and we bought the plus dining. Although, we've never bought trip insurance and we only ever buy the basic tickets instead of hoppers... works great for us because we don't like hopping! :cutie:

So you're getting the POR with 5 people like me, plus the water park tickets and normal dining and paying less? I wonder why.

What else am I paying for?

well your room has 4 Disney "adults"...so you're paying adult park tickets prices & adult dining plan prices for 2 of your 3 kids. That right there will make your "same plan" for a family of five considerably more expensive than someone paying for more Disney "children". Isn't the difference on the dining plan like $20 more per day for adults than it is for kids under 10? That adds up to quite a bit. And the same for park tickets...you're paying more for 4 "adult" park tickets and only one "child" ticket. Whereas some of the other posters are getting 3 adult/2 children in their deal.

You might want to check for sure what the components are on your quote, though...I just went to WDW website and put in 7 nights POR, 4 adults & one 9 year old, 7 day no-hopper tickets & the quick-service dining...the quote (with no 4/3 discount) shows $3879.55. Don't really see how you're getting a discount with a quote of $3849 unless you have park hoppers and mid-level of dining...

I did put your stats in on the "special offers" and played around with the components...the only way I can get the offer close to the $3849 you were quoted is if it's entered as 4 adults/1 child for 7 days at POR, 7 day park tickets with park hoppers and the "Plus dining"...that comes up as $3711. So maybe add insurance & you get the $3849?

When I put it in like you listed it....7 nights, 4 adult/1 child, 7 day tickets & bottom level dining (quick service) the quote that comes back is $3151. This does not include insurance, but there's no way insurance costs $700. (I think on mine...which is for 2 value resort rooms...the insurance cost $200 total for both rooms.)

Thank you to everyone.

I thought it was a bit high.

I don't know what I was quoted to get the price so high.
I had asked for what was included to be listed in the quote but it was just all grouped together.

I think if I book it myself I will come out ahead.
Plus even though we will be there 8 days I only want park tickets for 6 days.
We use the two travel days to just relax.
and I don't think I will need the dining plan.

I think my travel dates have to change now anyway.
I wanted to go from march 19th to the 26th so we could be there for DD birthday.. But my childrens schools are running their standardized state testing during that time frame so the kids can't miss some of those days.

So i may have to bump us to feb in order to fit this trip in during the "special" deal.
UGH

Kitkatsmom-

you probably are better off without the dining plan with everything you explained. I mean, I don't know of anyone that would spend $1,900 in food alone from what I had pmed you with (Room Only vs. Dining). lol.

Good luck with everything! :):cheer2:

my parents started taking us to Disney when I was 6 and I am now 28 and taking my own children. We have never used the DP and have bought cereal and milk for breakfast and then brought PB for lunch if we didn't want to leave the pool. My best advice to you is to think about whether you are going to disney for food or for fun because it really eats up time waiting at restaurants. I have friends who have used the dining plan and say that it was a waste because they had to make sure they used up all the meals to make it pay and that they were sick of having to eat out all the time. I think that you can do a much better job if you just plan ahead.

We have 4 children and 3 of them are considered adults, we only did the dinning plan once, and that was during free dining! We usually go to 3 or 4 sit down restaurants while we are there, but I reserve for late lunch, so around 2-4pm, that way we get the lunch prices, have breakfast in our room then have a snack later on! Works well for us! Can't fathom paying close to $2000.00 for food for our upcoming trip!:scared1:

Oops, also meant to ask...are you sure they gave you the promo price? 'Cause if you didn't specifically ask for the promo and have the name of the code, they would have given you the regular rates.

To the OP,

WOW!!! you'd be $200 paying more than I am for YC, what I was quoted for Poly (um, exactly the same price, hmmm) and almost $1,000 more than I was quoted for POR:scared1:! We're going a month later but we've got the DP and 7 day base tickets on the 4/3 deal - No TI. Even before the deal I was quoted only approx. $3,000 for POR pkg thru AAA. We're also a family of 5 - Me DH and 3 DS 13, 9, & 6 so 3 Adults.

OP - With the 4/3 deal as you quoted (2 adults, 2 juniors, 1 child)

MYW - 7 days base tix
No dining - $2012.05
Quick dining - $2914.70
Basic dining - $3208.70

For hopper OR water, add $266.25 for each option (for everyone)
