Hi All,

We'll be going down to Disney 11/2 - 11/10. My DH doesn't like flying out of Logan so we're considering Hartford (BDL). The best flight I can get with my times is $272. r/t. Is this a good price? We've never flown out of Hartford before. Is there a chance this will come down or should I book now? Any advice is appreciated

Thanks,
Tracy:bounce: :Pinkbounc

I don't know alot about Hartford except that Southwest flies out of there for those who like to fly them.

I only know what I've paid from Boston for non-stop with either Delta or American.

I think that is kind of high but the airfare is high right now for some reason.

I'm going in Nov/Dec and booked as soon as I could and I paid $181 per ticket on Delta non-stops and the times/dates I wanted.

The most I've ever paid is $215. The cheapest I've paid was $100 with American last year.

I've paid $100, $181, $192, and $215.

It's a tough call. It could stay the same, go up, or more than likely come down.

Good luck.

Is that per ticket or for both of you? Personally I would wait, November is a long ways away (sorry about that). I fly out of Bradley when going to Disney and I have yet to pay more than 150.00 per person rt.
Have you tried pricing for Worcester? That would be a bit closer to where you live, or try TF Green in Providence. From where you live you certainly have some alternatives, Nashua is also a thought.

Hi Gail,
That's PER ticket! And there are 5 of us going. I considered Worcester but they don't have non-stop. I'm not the best flyer, so once up and once down is about all I can take! Not too sure about TF Green, I'll have to check that one out. We flew out of Manchester last December. We loved the airport but again, no non-stop flights. We'd have to fly SW and I'm not sure I like the idea of no seat assignments! My DH says I'm WAY too picky, but he's the one that says NO LOGAN!

Your right, November is definetly too far away:( Especially with the winter we've been having!!!

Thanks for the advice:jester:

69 each way out of Hartford. I am trying to talk my SIL into it. It is an extra 30 minute drive and they will save over 300. Seems worth it to me.

ebhurleys,

WOW! That's half what we'd pay on Delta! Maybe I should hold out for SW to release it's dates for November! Anyone know how long that will take????? Seems so FAR away...:( Has anyone ever had a problem getting seats together on SW? It just makes me so nervous!
Tracy

You should definitely hold out until SW releases November dates. No way should you be paying $272 per person. It should be closer to $200, and probably less than that.

I did a search on Expedia and came up with $206 per person for Northwest out of Columbus for November 5. I thought that was high.

Also, Northwest pulled out of Columbus so I am not so sure about those flights. I thought Delta would be cheaper but Expedia gave me $247.00 per person. Last time I flew in November to Orlando it was $179 per person.

Should we wait also to check flights for November?

Thanks.

Should we wait also to check flights for November?

I'm pretty sure it was AMERICA West, not NorthWest, that pulled out of Columbus.

As to your question, fares have been unusually high lately, probably due in part to airline cutbacks and post-9/11 charges. I paid $177pp from CLE to MCO back in 2001 and could not find anything cheaper than $205pp for our May trip this year, even on the "discount" airlines!

I would wait a while before booking for November, especially out of Columbus. Give it some time for things to settle down in the post- America West era and see what other airlines swoop in to cover the market for flights to MCO. I understand that Delta's discount carrier Song Airlines is planning to start operations out of Columbus soon. Plus, the void left by America West leaves room for other discounters like AirTran and Southwest to step in. Give it some time.

apagano: Thanks and duh! I knew it was America West just had a lock on my brain. I will wait it out but I always get nervous.

Thanks again.

SWA is fantastic. We fly them almost all the time. If you get there early (1-1.5 hours ahead of flight time) you should not have a problem with getting seats. We have only had a problem once and that was when WE were late to check in. Even on connecting flights there is no problem.
Green is very easy to get to and a nice airport. You can also try flights to Tampa as that is a very easy commute.
Manchester, Providence and Hartford all have SWA flights that are non stop to both Orlando and Tampa. Looks like you have quite a few options here. :)
That airfare is way high, I would hold out for something more reasonable.

Gail,
Thanks for the encouraging words for SW. I had a feeling $272 was high but I got nervous:p Now I've just got to sit on my hands until SW releases some more dates!!! One quick question. We've never flown into Tampa, how long does it take to get to WDW? We're thinking of renting a car for this trip (we've always used town cars). Is it a fairly easy drive? (Sorry, that was two questions! ) Thanks again for all the advice!
Tracy~

Tracy,
Tampa to WDW is about 60-75 minutes, the drive is VERY easy and there are no tolls. We have done it a few times and it is an excellent alternative if the airfare is less expensive to Tampa.
