Is this a decent re-sale price?

Pretty new to DVC but a friend of mine wants to sell her points and approached me.

Advice please - is this a good price or no? I feel like it is just okay based on the research I've done.

We've always travelled in September but if we were DVC owners we expect that we would travel in the fall and winter (Sept - April) so I *think* an April use year would make sense...?

$145-$15,260-100-CCV@WL-Apr-0/20, 100/21, 100/22

**We would be paying for the 2021 maintenance fees which add $760 for a total cost per point of $152.60**

Looks good to me! Under $150 for a not large contract seems like a good deal. And the current points still have good flexibility to use or bank.

I’d say it is but remember, it is subjective because it’s all about if it fits your needs well.

I just went under contract for RIV resale for $152 which is on the higher end and many would not buy it close to that price,

But, it was exactly what fit our needs, came with 2020 points, and was the UY we needed.

It wasn’t worth walking away from the deal for an extra $1k which is what I had hoped to pay.

The price seems fine for the number of points.

I'm not sure I'd get an April use year if you're planning to travel frequently in the months at the end of your use year. It increases the risk a bit since you'd be past your banking window.

Yes, I was originally thinking we'd be best with a August, September or October UY.

I think it’s a good price for 100 points at CCV, which has a 2068 expiration date, I have been bidding on CCV contracts around 75-100 points and couldn’t get anyone to agree to anything even close to 145.

GREAT price!! We were seeing many in this range a few months ago, but not so lately.

That said, it's not an ideal use year for you, especially if you are serious about traveling in March, and if you choose a week that overlaps with April (I have no personal experience, but I hear that a trip that spans 2 UYs is complicated to book).

We like to travel in September and were close to buying a September UY, but found the ideal contract in every way except that it was an August UY. In retrospect, we're SO happy we chose August, because our very first trip, we decided to go the week before Labor Day, which starts in August and ends in September.

How flexible are your travel patterns? Seems like a great contract and hard to pass up. There are many on these boards who say UY is overrated and for the right contract, you can make any UY work!

Good luck deciding!

Great price! I got a 100pt CCV in Jan for $140/pt. Only difference was I also got 79pts for 2020.

It appears that several posters on this link don't have a good understanding of UY. See this link, lots of good info, Thanks to Carol for this info:

I guess I'm confused now.

The advice in this thread recommends not wanting to use points near the end of the use year on a regular basis. The linked thread gives the same advice, but with more detail (as in, not much time to be able to rebook and use the points that will expire.).

Don't be confused; your advice was great. I read the OPs post again and again in case they said they wanted to travel September AND April, in which case our advice was bad, but September THROUGH April? April would probably be the worst choice for that, AUG or SEP would be best.

That said, travel patterns change as our stages of life advance, and vacation dates for many can also be adjusted to make any UY work.

Great price! I would take it. Travel plans change with time. Overall April is a great use year to allow for food and wine, thanksgiving and christmas banking window of November 30

I also re-read the whole thread, because I don't want to give bad advice, and I couldn't find anything that contradicted the information in the other thread. :confused3 I also wanted to make sure I understand use year - it IS a bit confusing.

I do have a use year that, on the surface, should be absolutely awful for me, but it's working pretty well. My use year is October, and most of my travel is in late July and early August due to the school calendar and when I have vacation time. However, summer is also the most flexible time for me if I had to make last-minute adjustments. This pairs well with that time of summer usually having somewhat flexible availability also. It also "forces" me to stop tinkering with my plans by the end of May. Additionally, it gives me plenty of time in my use year if a winter or spring break trip doesn't happen as planned.

I think it may have been because not everyone addressed the UY part of the queston?

I only talked about price and didn’t even pay close enough attention to it not being the best UY for time of travel.

Your advice on that part was spot on!

The price is in line with recent reports.

As has been mentioned though that the UY isn't ideal for the free insurance that can be provided by having a UY that starts just prior to your typical travel dates. Of course if you never have to cancel a trip that is towards the end of the UY then it will never matter. However if you do then last minute Jan, Feb & March trip cancellations might mean some scrambling to use or rent the points to prevent losing them. The good thing is that time of the year it's better to try and rebook than say the fall. I wouldn't dismiss it because of it but it's something to consider and at least be aware of.
