In the midst of all my excitement this morning I received a call from my father. My dear cousin has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I don't know much but she had seen a Dr because she hadn't been feeling well and they didnt find anything. It seems that she has now started coughing up blood and they found that she has breast cancer. I'm really thinking the worst. I mean, if she's coughing up blood doesn't that mean it's very advanced?

To give you some background on my cousin, she is an amazing 50yo woman. She was a young widow, left with two children. Her husband and brother died on the same day in unrelated events. Her brother in a car accident, her husband a suicide. Her half sister died within that year of cancer. She has raised her two beautiful girls by herself, they are now grown and she is married to an absolutely gorgeous 26 yo hunk of a man. I just can't believe this.

I am so sorry. That is just terrible. The coughing up of the blood doesn't sound good at all, but you never know. She could have two different conditions going on and it may have nothing to do with the breast cancer spreading. She could have pneumonia or something going on in there. But I do think that, realistically, you need to be prepared for the possibility that it has spread. It's so horrible when bad things happen to good people. Again, I'm so sorry about this bad news. I'll be sending warm thoughts her way.

Oh no. I hate that disease. It is so evil to take women in the prime of their lives.

I reallly hope the coughing up blood is unrelated.

:grouphug: My prayers go out to her and her family. My mother is battling her second round of breast cancer right now. :guilty:

Obviously, I don't know what is going on with her, but I wanted to give you one possibility. She could have been coughing up blood due to a respiratory illness and when they ran tests on her lungs, they could have found the cancer on her breast.
(they found a tumor on my sisters lung during a kidney xray- looking for infection)

I have no idea, but my point is wait and see what the prognosis is. It may not be as bad as you think.

Sounds like an amazing woman who has had many things to deal with....bless her. {{{HUGS}}} to you and prayers that this can be beat!

It's so hard to say. :grouphug:

My aunts breast cancer returned in May and we all assumed the worst since it had spread to her spine, but she was told after intensive radiation her life expectancy was 7+ years.

I hope they caught it soon enough. :tink:
