Is this a bad time for a last minute trip?

We had to cancel a trip we had planned on taking due to some unforeseen circumstances involving dh. Things are back on track now, and we want to take a much needed getaway.

I am worried though that this may be a poor time crowd-wise to go on a last minute trip. I checked our dates, and there is availability for some resorts so a room isn't an issue (though our preferred resort isn't available, but no worries, there are options, lol) what I am concerned about are the crowds. DH is still "on the mend" so we were hoping for not a ton of crowds at the parks (dh would go for short times, but DS and I would still visit them a fair amount of time while DH rests as needed) or at the resort (where I am thinking DH would be spending a lot of his time).

The dates that we can go are Dec 12-19th. Do you think that is a good/bad time for a last minute getaway being that we're looking to unwind and relax?

Crowds should be pretty managable, except for the weekend. We are going 15-22 and have noticed that ADRs are pretty much gone for the best times. I tried to change one last week without success. That will be your biggest problem with a last-minute trip.

We went last weekend and found that the crowds really were not too bad. We only had to wait about 10 - 15 minutes for all but one ride. I think we waited 20 minutes for Haunted Mansion. The crowds were thick in the Magic Kingdom right around lunch time on one of the Extra Magic Hour days but after that it was fine. As long as you have the luxury of just taking your time and possibly coming back to certain attractions at a later time you should be fine.

Was talking with my neice today who is a Cast Member (manager) and she was saying that the next two weeks will be quiet. So I don't think you have anything to worry about. Go and enjoy !

We have gone around that exact same time for several years in the past. It's a great time to go crowd-wise. :)

Thanks so much :) I feel pretty good about booking now :) I was really worried we'd be crushed by the crowds, and with dh not being in his prime at the moment, that would have made it not such a pleasant trip, and we'd be best postponing again. We've been to WDW before when there were huge crowds, and they were tolerable, but with dh still getting back to full speed, I know he would be miserable. Whew, I can relax now :)

On to booking :) :)
