Is there WiFi in the resort rooms?

No. Currently, all of the onsite DVC resorts have only wired internet access. You can bring your own wireless router and create your own wireless network though.

Thanks. We don't have a router. But we are DVC members.

Do they provide the ethernet cable in the room, or should we bring a cable?

A short cable will be hanging in the closet in a bag.

And, by the way, with the entire world going wireless these days, doesn't anyone else think that Disney should consider providing WiFi, at least for us who pay DVC dues every year?

In case you haven't figured it out yet, Disney doesn't provide anything for the DVC unless it's marketing related.

If they upgrade the rooms to WiFi, the members will be the ones paying for it.

Yes, I've noticed that.

In a similar vein, are the Welcome Home Wednesdays just another ploy to get you to buy more points?

We have never been to one of these events, and I don't think I want to take time from my vacation to hear a sales pitch. I'm happy with what we have.

All DVC events and tours are put on by the marketing department.

its very, very short that it will make it to the nearest table and thats it.
in the least bring a 10 foot cable with you to be able to move it around a bit...

The cable provided is fairly short so if you want to move to a more comfortable location, like maybe your balcony I'd bring a longer cable.

Okay, so now I need to ask...I was going to bring either our netbook, or the iPad so that my husband will have access to his college classes while we are @ WDW in OCT. We are DVC Owners and will be staying VWL and AKL. How do we bring our own wireless router and create wifi? I am REALLY sorry if this is a stupid question...

Thanks, in advance, to anyone and everyone who is willing to enlighten me!

There is free wireless in the Lobby though...
its not super fast but gets the job done

It hasn't been my experience that the DVC resorts have free wireless in the lobby. Which one did you find this in?

Each router is a bit different, I'd recommend bringing the router and the instrunctions with you. The quick setup guide should walk you through anything you need to do. Most routers now a days are pretty simple following the few instructions once it's plugged in.

If your router is used at home and you just unplug it and bring it with you it should be very simple if your netbook/iPad is already setup on it.

If you have the 3G iPad you should have no worries. I had great 3G service with my iPhone and no need to keep logging in every time you go online, as you have to do when you use Disney's broadband.
