Is there time to eat breakfast (at Poly)?

I am staying at the Poly. I've never been to a WDW resort before and haven't been to WDW since I was a kid. Now I keep reading that you have to get to the parks before they open when it is busy. Does that mean there is no time for a sit-down breakfast? It seems like such a bummer to me that we can't dine at Kona cafe and still get to parks early. I guess they don't open until 7:30. I don't want everything to be rush-rush... How do you get around this? I won't be staying long, so all my days are park days.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Kona opens pretty early - why not make a PS for breakfast to cut down on any potential wait. Whenever we eat at Kona they are really good about getting us in and out quickly without feeling rushed. Then just hop on the monorail right outside and you'll be off to the MK!

It's not a trip to the Poly w/o some Tonga Toast!! ;)

Have fun!

We only did the early hours thing once, so it was just one day we didn't have breakfast at Kona. I wouldn't want to rush out every morning for the emh, it was fun one morning at the MK, but that was enough for me.

I would phone the Poly info line at 407-824-2466 to find out what time the Kona opens. As stated above, make a PS for the earliest time. After breakfast it's literally a 15 yard walk to the monorail. You'll be at the MK in no time at all. I know it's easier said than done, especially if you don't go to WDW all the time, but I always have a better time if we don't rush around. Our goal is never to see/be everywhere but to just have a great time. Have fun!

Staying at the Poly and not trying Tonga Toast is almost a sin! LOL! :rotfl:

You will have plenty of time for the parks if you make a early ps for Kona and like huntconn said, the monorail platform is only steps away. The service at Kona is quick and they have such great food. It would be a waste to skip a decent breakfast to get to the parks a few minutes earlier when it so close. It's not like you have to hike to a food court and then take a bus or anything. The Poly is in perfect location and just minutes away.

We had the same problem when we were there a few weeks ago. In our case, EMH at the MK was every morning at 7:00 am that week!

There are two options to consider if you don't want to wait for the Kona Cafe to open.

If you don't mind counter service, Captain Cooks is open 24 hours a day. I can't recall whether they have hot meals for breakfast but they definitely have cereals, yogurt, fruit, muffins.

If you MUST try the Tonga Toast, you can order it through room service. I think most of the Kona breakfast selections are available from room service and they begin service as early as 6:30 am in the morning. If you want to get it first thing, you have to place your order outside your door before 3:00 am. Otherwise, you have to call it in and there will be nobody there to take your call until 6:30 am. Warning: the prices on in-room dining are slightly more than ordering from Kona and they charge you both a delivery fee ($3) and mandatory 15% gratuity. Expensive, but at least you'll get your fix of Tonga Toast.

The other option, which we've done a lot, is to head out to the MK first thing and then pop back over to Kona for a late breakfast around 10:30am or so. We like to do this on MK early entry day.
