Is there such a thing as too many points?

Oh you know the old saying "One can never be too thin, too rich, nor have too many DVC Points!" hehehehe

I feel like I have too many points. I have 3 contracts. They were all paid in cash and I can afford the dues, the problem is that I can't find the time to use all of the points. Our 3 children are adults now and do not want to vacation at WDW and 2 weeks a year is enough for my husband and I. We bought 3 contracts thinking that eventually each child would get one but none of the 3 really like going there now. Oh well.

+1

We bought 300 OKW points in 1995 when my daughters were 9, 6, 6, and 3. We never had enough points it seemed so we added on 50 more OKW points in 1998 or so when the Hospitality House was replaced by more units. Still not enough points, so we bought 350 BWV points in 2002 or so when their Hospitality area was replaced by more units. The kids loved the boardwalk area as there were lots ofplaces for teens to hang out and two parks were right next door. Now that the youngest is 16 and the wife works fulltime, finding time to get to DVC to use all the points each year is almost impossible, plus we don't need a 2 BR or GV when we visit so we use less points whe nwe do go. While I may still deed the contracts to the kids someday, that day is probably 10+ years off as only one is on her own and she will probably be a few more years until she is settled and would have Disney as a high priority vacation destination (she still loves it there, but 23 year olds go to the Jersey Shore or Myrtle beach or Vegas with their friends). I'm thinking of selling one of the contracts for now and seeing how we do on half the points.

I could see needing less points as the kids grow. But I don't know if that would count as too many since it was the right amount at one time.

We probably have too many points because various family issues make traveling difficult for now. We have had to do what I NEVER envisioned: rent out some points. I am hoping that eventually we will have more freedom and be able to use all of our points. The thought of having to sell some points makes me physically sick. DVC has such a strong emotional component for me and giving up some of our membership would feel like a death in the family. Sick, I know.
