I know or think I heard people talking about these. Is it something like a gift card or is it actual paper "Disney" currency? Also, where can you purchase them? How about the Disney Stores? Thanks!!!
Yes - there are Disney Dollars. They are actual "paper" money with characters on them and you can buy $1, $5, $10, $20, and $50 bills. You can buy them at the Disney Store as well as the Disney Theme Parks and they will spend at both places. Only places they won't spend are some of the non-Disney owned restaurants at DTD. We had some given to us as gifts and used them last year on vacation. I used them at a couple of shops and I know that we have used them at the restaurants in the parks too.
Oh - edited to add - last year, I got a Disney Store gift card for my birthday and wanted to take it on our vacation, but the parks won't accept the card, only the stores. The store clerk suggested that I "cash out" my gift card by "buying" Disney Dollars since they spend at the park - so I ended up buying the same amount of Disney Dollars as my gift card and was able to use it at the parks!!
yes there is actuall disney currency. they come in $1, 5, 10, 20 dollars. there may be more. but they have the disney characters instead of the presedents on actuall bills. and they can be used all over dw and the disney stores i believe. i dont know if u can buy them at the disney stores anymore but if you buy them at dw you get the special edition ones and special characters. hope that helps

I think the characters change. When we were there in Nov. 2004 Chicken Little was on our ones. There are some now with the DL Castle for the 50th Celebration. There are pretty cool to look at.

We got the $20s at the Disney Store. I think it depends on what they have at the time. Maybe all of the Disney Stores get different amounts.
These are great for the kids. My kids always want to earn Disney Dollars before we go on a trip, and they are always so excited to go to the Disney Store and purchase them right before we go and put them in their wallets. Of course, I end up holding the wallets for them so they don't lose them. I wish they would do a gift card that would be good at the parks too. That would be even easier.
I just love Disney dollars. I find it a great way to put aside a little extra "cash" to have for my trip. It's not like I can dip into this stash to spend just anywhere. Plus it's great fun to spend them at WDW.
I purchased at the disney store two days ago. The 10s had Minnie and it said "50th Anniversary" or something like that (I already mailed them in a card.)
My friend gave me a good idea. When she has a trip planned, every time she gets paid she goes and buys some of the dollars. Then she is forced to save them for the trip, b/c they won't spend anywhere else. It's a good way to save spending money.
