In the past they have always authorized only $1 when we have checked into our resorts, no matter what our charging limit was-no holds or anything on our card. We have always checked our account right after check in and we always see that $1 charge authorization and that is it and then the final amount on check out day. The last time we were there was in 2002. Does anyone know if this is still the practice? We will be switching resorts after 2 days and obviously don't want a hold put on our card stopping us from leaving our card for room charges again when we check in at the second resort. We want to be sure because we stopped in Vegas overnight one time and they put a $200 hold on our card at the hotel and we only had $300 in there!! $100 does not make a fun Vegas stop! Thanks!!

Yes that is still the case. Disney does a $1.00 authorization up front just to make sure the card is valid (has not been reported lost or stolen). The only thing they will charge for right away is Room and Tax (if it is not paid in advance) and Tickets are charged when you purchase them... If you are just using the account for incidentals, nothing will be charged until you reach the set amount for the Hotel spending limit ($500 for the All Stars/Pop... $1000 for the moderates, $1500 for Deluxe and $3000 for the Grand).

Oh, I thought the limits were different. When DH and I stayed at the Poly in 2002 we don't remember worrying about hitting the limit, but when we stayed at the AS Sports in 2003 we were worried about hitting $500. I asked the CM if this was a new thing, and he informed us it was always this way. Apparantly its just different depending on the resort class.

Thanks so much LibertyBelle! We can always count on you for the correct info! Also I was wondering if you (or anyone else) knows what time in the a.m. the resort charges your card on check out day? We will be having a direct deposit go in the morning we check out so just curious. Also, is the limit at the Home Away From Home resorts the $1500 like the deluxes or is it different? Thanks so very much!

Yes DVC (home away from home) resorts are $1500.00 as well... As for the charge postings... if you are on Express Check out the payment goes through around 3am. If you tell them you do not wish to have express check out you can go to the desk anytime before 11am to have the payment processed :)

DVC (Home Away From Home) resorts are $1500 limit, like the Deluxes. I don't know about the Wilderness Cabins.

Thanks! We will be at OKW. Can you leave the card for room charging but ask to NOT have express check out or if you leave the card do you automatically get express check out? Also, just out of curiosity, what happens if they try to charge the card for express check out and it is declined? I have always wondered this since they only authorize that $1 surely this has happened?

I had express checkout and my bill was attatched to my door when I got up with all my room charges. As for if they don't go through, I was told by the front desk that I had express checkout and unless there was something wrong or needed to be taken care of I wouldn't have to go up to the desk for checkout. So by that I would assume if something was declined they would notify you in some way to come and checkout at the front desk.

You could always leave cash for the charging option and not do express checkout. This is what I do. It is much easier not to over charge if there is not a cragit card backing it up. :D

$3000 for the Grand).

Did this recently change, as every time we stayed at the GF we only a charging limit of $1500 (with much, much more money available on the credit card)? My fiance had many arguments with GF concierge or the GF front desk when we were at a restaurant or a store and they'd make a giant hassle out of charging the credit card and starting over. He often asked if he could have a higher limit, but was always told $1500 was it, they didn't care how much you had available on your card.

It has always has been $1500 at the deluxes since we started going in 98.In our case it has been the opposite issue, where it has even been $1500 when we have left a credit card (check card) with only $500 available on it.We don't charge to the room if we have most of our money in cash which on that trip was the case. My hope is that we will have plenty of money with no worries. If for some reason we go over and they try to charge the card at 3am and it does not go through, could we just call down to the desk and ask them to charge it again when we get up? I am assuming they either leave a message on your phone or put something under the door letting you know something is wrong?

When I complained about the low limit during our last trip they said I could transfer it over to my credit card when I approached $500. So midway through our trip I had them transfer the balance to the credit card so I didn't have to worry about it going over the $500 while paying for dinner or something.
