I want to call reservations but I don't want to call the 407 number and rack up a phone bill. Is there no phone number for Canadians to contact?

When I called I used the 407 number. I didn't notice any 1 800 number and thought it was a little strange.

Nope...an it's aggrevating as I'm sure I've spent 90 minutes on the phone thus far making my initial reservations and then calling back a few days later when the free dining dates were revised.

I don't recall them ever having an 1-800 number. Long-distance is so cheap these days that the 407 number never really bothered me. Most phone companies these days the rates to Canada and US are the same so it's not a big deal. I don't think pay 5-cents per minute's a big issue in the scope of the budget for a Disney trip.

Or book online.

I was just about to post exactly what Cdn Friends of Pooh posted. Guess Disney got sick of us on the Dis calling all the time asking for codes and discounts!
My TA does it all, so I guess other than the 407 number, can it be done online? Can we answer your question?

We have a basic plan for our phone so long distance can be expensive. I got over being annoyed at how Disney is pretty much the only major company I've ever dealt with that doesn't have a toll free line for their customers and went out and bought a cheap $5 calling card that was worth about 200 min.

LOL Compare to what you are going to spend on airfare + hotel + park tickets + food + souvenir, long distance phone charge is like nothing!! :rotfl2:

Get a Gmail account and call from that (click on "Call phone" on the lower left side)! Gmail calls within North America are free until the end of the year and you'll be able to surf DisBoards while you're on hold ... just don't download a bunch of stuff while you're calling or it may affect your call quality ;)

Then use a service like 10-10-YAK (http://www.yak.ca/10-10-yak) You call 10-10-YAK, then the long distance number you want. All calls to Canada and the US using this are 5-cents/minute. Even without that, I only have the basic long distance plan with my phone company and all calls to Canada and the US are 15-cents/minute. It's not like the 70s where it was dollars per minute for long distance.

Or you can try magic jack. We have one that we take with us to DW since we have free Internet in our room. It cost $40 and gives us a year of free long distance anywhere in north america. It is then $20/year thereafter. It uses your broadband connection like Google phone but no one has ever complained about the quality. Still I can't yet get rid of my Bell line.

Came here to post this exact thing! We used the Gmail free calling to call home from WDW last year too (figure the $10 internet fee saved us about $50 in long distance charges).

OMG! I never knew about this!!! I just installed it to my account, but realized it's 11:38pm and I have no one to call at this hour to test it.
