Is there life after turning 40?

Haven't you heard? 40 is the new 30!

I'm 42 and still feel like a kid, but I have more confidence and money, and a lot more accomplishments and experiences under my belt. Last year, I ditched the 9-5 grind and started a consulting business with two partners that has totally re-energized my creativity.

Our circle of friends are all 40-something and look and act much younger. And I don't mean we are trying to recapture our lost youth, we are just blazing a new trail!!

Challenge yourself to try new things and look at old situations with a different perspective and you will never get bored!!

Getting older has its drawbacks--more aches and pains, dealing with aging parents--but as my Dad always says, "It's better than the alternative!"

I am thrilled with every extra year I'm given. I'll be 50 this year and I couldn't be happier. Life just keeps getting better!!

Yup! Stanley Adams was my MIL's cousin and that was always my favorite Star Trek episode, so it seemed appropriate, lol. She had some great stories about them as kids.

Cool! When I was a kid I used to sew my own Tribbles. (Actually, I stapled them, since I was not much of a seamstress!).

Haven't you heard? 40 is the new 30!

No wonder I feel so young! I am only in my 20s!! Just remember...don't act your age and they'll never know you're 40! :teeth:

Serioulsy, it is only a number. I do feel like I'm only in my 20s. God blessed you for giving you another year to live. You're lucky, but my husband didn't even make it to his 33rd bday. And I hope all of us here on the DIS will have many many more bdays!!

Come this May life as you know it is OVER.....DONE....KAPUT.....Slowly things that used to work won't...your mind will slowly start to fade.......your eye sight will deminish.......you'll have aches and pains in place you didn't know you had places..........AND YOU DON'T EVEN WANT TO KNOW ABOUT 45!!!!

:p

My DD was born 2 weeks after I turned 40, that will certainly keep you feeling young! Or some days REALLY OLD! Sometimes I wonder where the years have gone, but I would not want to have to go back and live them again. Here's to a bright future for you and all of us in our really cool, later- young years! :teeth:

To paraphrase Robert Blake: You're still on the right side of the dirt;) I also think the world is run by people over 40. It's your turn to RULE:D

I'm almost there, and quite honestly, I'm kind of looking forward to it. Seems people in their 40's command alot of respect, like they've lived long enough to know what's going on, but not so long that they've completely forgot it.;)

But all this 40 talk has got me thinkin'... better start working on DH for a 40th birthday WDW trip (just in case I DO get depressed);) .

Hmmmm...let's see. At 41 I married a man 8 yrs younger than myself. At 43, I had my third child. Yep. There sure as heck is life after 40. Now, you youngsters......wait 'till the big 50 hits. That's some kind of fun. And can you imagine being 53 with a 10 y/o??? Oh the stories I could tell. But, this is a 'family' board!!! Quit yer complaining until you hit 50.

40 wasn't so bad........now that I'm almost 53....I would like to be 40 again.
Someone gave me a magnet for my fridge when I turned 50...

"Life begins at 50.......unfortunately everything else wears out, spreads out, and falls out.";)

Yes there is life after 40 AND believe it or not (drum roll please) there is life after 50!!! It really does keep getting better and better!!

Don't worry, once you get past the "number thing", you'll be fine!!

It's funny how only America glorifies youth.

I grew up admiring age as WISDOM and couldn't wait to be there!

Well, guess what? I'm there FINALLY!

Youth is fine while you're there but it's a series of traumas to get you to where you will eventually be forEVER. Forty was an awakening for me, it was the first time I didn't have to EXPLAIN myself to anyone anymore. This is IT, folks, this is ME! :teeth:

I heard from a friend of mine in personnel that in Japan (I think) that people cannot become police officers between the ages of 29 and 39. It's because that age is known to be volatile. I was the QUEEN of volatility in my 30s, always having to prove myself, ready and willing to start a fight about why I'M right, etc...

Mellow becomes the 40 year old, who cares less about the way others see her.

Enjoy your life. Every year is a gift, not a punishment. We MUST stop idolizing what society tells us is admissable and start loving what God gave us.

WELCOME to my DECADE!! oh and BTW I'm about to LEAVE it and I'm looking forward to it! :teeth:

Life begins at 40 and only gets better as time goes by!

Embrace it!

I just turned 50 a week ago and so far all is going well so the answer to your question is yes, there is life after 40.......at least 10 years!!!;) :teeth: :bounce:

Life after 40 is very very good. I developed an attittude when I turned 40. I don't let anyone get me down and I don't take alot of malarky from people. I've made it to 48 and consider that an accomplishment. The stupid thing I did when I turned 40 was go ice skating again. I hadn't done it since I was 19. I did well at first but then fell and injured my shoulder. It took 6 months for it to heal. Needless to say I learned from that and no longer ice skate. Have fun!
