Love the updates! We wanted to see both American Idol and Fantasmic this trip , but missed both.

I don't hear about too many people who actually do AI, but we really wanted to--especially DD4--she walked around saying "This is American Idol" all afternoon
I LOVE Dolly! Hooray for you trip! Did you know that the tapping noise at the beginning 9 to 5 is Dolly's finger nails, and was her idea? That woman's a genius I tell you!
(I can almost see my DH's eyes rolling as I type this

)
It does seem like you don't hear about people watching AI very much...maybe it's not
Disney enough? We all really enjoy it, though--I was worried the kids would get bored the first time we saw it, but they were really into it.
Dolly is a genius! I've got to pull out my greatest hits CD and get the kids indoctrinated before our trip
I love Dolly too!
Maybe she'll be there when we go, even! If she is, I'll say hello for you
Really enjoying your trip report...I have been GF for about a month now and we are headed down to WDW next month and I am looking forward to trying out some of your suggestions.
2 summers ago my family and I took a road trip from here in CT down and around parts of KY, TN, VA, etc. We went to Pigeon Forge and Dollywood and had such a blast! There is so much kooky, kitschy stuff going on down there. It poured when we went to Dollywood so we didn't enjoy it that much, but they were so wonderful that they gave us our $ back! We ended up going to Dolly's Dixie Stampede that night and had such a blast...and they were very accommodating for my vegetarian husband...and the meal seemed pretty GF friendly.. roasted chicken, potato, corn, etc. Totally recommend. It's like the Hillbilly Vegas down there! Enjoy!!!!
Thanks for reading! and thanks for the Pigeon Forge review...I was looking at Dixie Stampede and trying to decide if we should do it...sounds like fun!
1. I hate Six Flags. It's just so dirty. And not Disney. Are other Six Flags locations like this, or is it just Atlanta?
2. Jealous of the Dollywood trip! I wanted to do Dollywood/Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge last spring and nobody in my family would get on board

. Losers. Are you planning to go the The Dixie Stampede? I honestly don't remember much about it (or if they work with GF diets), but I know even as a kid I loved it and thought it was wonderfully hokey and amusing.
3. Where did you find those chicken tenders?
I went to the Six Flags in MA a LONG time ago, and I don't remember much about it. It was kind of a weird day when we went to the NJ one....we went the week before school got out up there, so it was just us and a few big school groups...as long as we stayed out of their way, it was like we had the park to ourselves for the first few hours. So we enjoyed it more than we expected. They have a really incredible roller coaster there called El Toro, and it was almost worth it just to ride that. But it was still Six Flags.
Aw...I hope you get to do your Pigeon Forge trip sometime! We haven't decided yet about Dixie Stampede...I might let birthday Gus decide. I think we're probably going to do Magiquest and Dollywood...not sure what else yet!
The chicken fingers are at Natural Foods Warehouse (I got them at the Crabapple one)...there are two different kinds; the ones that say tenderloins are the ones I'm pretty sure are exactly what Disney has.
That's what I was thinking - I'm not sure if we've ever had the gangster - we always have a cowboy! lol Come to think of it we've seen the gangster on other cars - but we get the cowboy. Heh.
I can hardly wait until the girls are tall enough (and brave enough) for ToT and RnRC Ryan's not a huge fan of big rides but he'll ride them if I insist. So it'll be fun when the girls can ride them with me. This year Ella will be on BTM and SM for the first time (I have little girls still).
I'm going to keep going on that ride every year until I see that cowboy!
It's so fun that first year when kids are tall enough for rides!
I think I am yet to read a good review of Six Flags - if I'm honest I didn't even know it existed until I came on these boards.
Yay on going to Dollywood! Of course we want to hear all the details!
I'm glad you found the same chicken tenders that they sell at Disney to relive some of the magic
Yes, I'm not surprised that news of Six Flags hasn't spread much internationally

--it's definitely not something you'd travel far to visit! For people who are just into big thrill rides, it's fine....I LOVED going to ours in middle/high school. But I think I've done enough visits this summer to hold me over for quite awhile!
