Is there enough variety in the Qs plan to last 8 days?

I may be booking the last room at a value resort during the free dining promotion. Lol.

Anyway, it comes with the free quick service. In my case it really is free. The room would be the same price with no dining at all on my alternate dates.

Anyway!

Wondering if we will get bored with quick service options.

To be fair my kids are not that into food ... And if we sit down it will probably be a character breakfast so those will be out of pocket.

Thoughts on quick service selections for adults doing each park for 2 days each?

If it truly is free for you, just go for it. No doubt you'd eat at some CS anyway and eat some snacks. So just use what you would use and if you don't use them all then no biggie. Then pay OOP for TS and at least what CS you used would be free. But to answer your question, yes, there is plenty of variety. I find myself craving some CS meals more than sit down. Epcot has the most variety but there is variety all over as well.

We have found that there definatly is, but you gotta work at it a little. There are a ton of different fun options, but they are a little harder to find. If the new BOG is open, them go there for lunch for sure, it sounds very different and great. Some of our other favorites are, Columbia Harbor House, Flame tree Bbq, and any of Epcots world showcase countries... Well except america...

Don't forget about resort counterservice and DTD locations too. Those might be better used as an evening meal option depending on how you tour.

Tons of variety on the QSDP. We do it every year and we stay for 9 nights. We eat fish, chicken, pork BBQ, pizza, sandwiches, burgers, taco salads, etc. Plenty of food! Enjoy!:goodvibes

Initially I was very skeptical about this myself. I really didn't want to eat hamburgers, pizza, and other junk type food for 9 days. However, after looking at menus and some QSDP reviews I am confident that we will not be bored with QS restaurants. We have planned our out similarly to if we were doing ADRs, so that we won't have to struggle to figure out something at the last minute (unless what we planned really just doesn't appeal to us at that moment). I actually have more restaurants on my list than what we can make it to.

Here are a couple QS Dining Reports that may give you a good idea of what you can get:

Seven nights of our most recent trip were using the QSDP. We only ate one TS meal during that time. During our trip, our meals included the following.

Breakfast
waffles with bacon and fruit
chocolate chip pancakes with bacon, sausage and fruit
eggs with bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes and fruit

Lunch & Dinner
rotisserie chicken and ribs with beans and coleslaw
seared tuna steak over salad
pork chop with veggies and mashed potatoes
mongolian steak sautee
steak with steamed veggies and potatoes
chicken caesar salad
several variations of pastas (create your own at AoA)
chicken tenders with fries
pizzas with salads
burgers with fries
fried shrimp with fries

Here are some suggestions by parks.

Magic Kingdom
Columbia Harbour House: Lighthouse sandwich, fried shrimp
Cosmic Ray's: rotisserie chicken (with ribs after 4pm)
Main Street Bakery: sandwiches (lunch; they may be sold out by dinner)

Epcot
Sunshine Seasons: so many wonderful fresh options but I'm partial to the seared tuna steak
Liberty Inn: I was shocked to get a steak there
World Showcase: check out each country's options

DHS
This is the park that's more difficult. Save your "traditional" QS type meals for here, though they do have salads available at Min&Bill's I think.

Animal Kingdom
Flame Tree BBQ and Yack & Yeti both have nice options.

If you're staying at Pop, I know they have some wonderful options there as well. My DH loves their Mom's Night Out meals and I'm a big fan of their salad/sandwich/flatbread station. They used to have a mediterranian flatbread that was soooo delicious.

Thank you all so much for your responses!!!!

AS a follow-up question....... this morning there is new availability at POrt Orleans.....so I'm considering that instead of a family suite at the ASMu. (It's actually cheaper, and comes with some Table Service with the free dining since it is a Moderate, I think).

As I mentioned earlier, the kids are not big into eating, so I don't want that table service to go to waste. Can we still use 2 TS meals to get a character meal? (Haven't done this since 2005 so things might have changed).

I can search for that answer, but as long as I had an open thread on the topic I thought I'd ask.

I'm saving this thread for in-depth reference for meal planning. Thanks so much.

Most character meals are only 1TS credit. CRT is the only one I can think of that requires 2 credits. The dinner shows (SoA, HDDR, MBYBBQ) cost 2 TS credits but the characters meals are only 1. Signature meals also cost 2 credits. Look at the DDP brochure and it clearly states which ones cost 2 credits.

Thank you! I will go find the DDP brochure. !! :woohoo:

Pepper Market has a breakfast and lunch BUFFET for a quick service credit. Wolfgang Puck Express and Cookes of Dublin are great choices in DTD. Some of the obvious have been mentioned such as Flame Tree, Sunshine Seasons, Columbia Harbor House, etc. In DHS, Starring Rolls has good sandwiches and you get one of their great cupcakes for your dessert. Captain Cook's has Tonga Toast for a QS credit. Art of Animation has a particularly interesting menu for a value resort food court. Also you get snack credits on QSDP: lots of options there.

(BOG will also be on QSDP for lunch)

There was a DR over on the dining review board a couple of months ago where a family of 3 spent 11 days on the QSDP and ate no burgers, only had chicken fingers once, and did NOT eat pizza every day. There are definitely options if you do a little homework (especially if you're there after BOG and Gaston's Tavern open).

Upgrade!!! ;) I'm just saying that because I love food, as do my kiddos. But if you don't, HS is really the only place we struggled for QS, otherwise there are plenty of choices.

this is us too - we went an entire 10 day trip - only ate one burger and split a resort CS pizza one time. Everything else was QS meals (no TS) - by the last day I was actually craving the burger (that's when I had it and I was the only one).

Do your research before you go - make a list of good places to eat in each park and in DTD. You'll find lots of food options

If you do go with Port Orleans and the regular dining plan don't forget to budget for tips.

If you think you will eat at two or more table service meals, look into the upgrade to the regular dining plan. We paid approx. $300, the price of two TS meals, and had table service for 6 days.
