Is there enough time? ME and ADR?

Probably gets asked all the time, but here goes nothing. Adult kiddos and I are flying in from different locations on different airlines, but had things arranged to arrive within 10 minutes of each other. United has changed one of its flights for one of us. Originally, I had 3 hours between scheduled flight arrivals and the ADR at Ohana. We're staying at the GF, so resort to resort is just a short launch ride. Now, one of us has just 2.5 hrs from arrival to ADR.

Trying to get a later ADR with the TP reservation finder. So far, no luck.

Do we:
Wait for the latest arrival and figure 2.5 hours is enough?
Send those of us arriving first to the resort and tell the last one to uber it?
All wait for an uber? We've got one checked bag that would be tagged for ME.

Leave for your resort immediately via Magical Express without waiting for others.
Now it is possible that plane arrival could be delayed in which case you should be prepared to take Uber directly to the ADR (Polynesian) without waiting for any others who have not arrived yet.

For those going to your resort (Grand Floridian) first via DME, be prepared to drop off carryons with the bellhop and taking Uber to the Poly if time is short when you get there..

Be prepared to cut others who have not arrived yet from your party in order to be seated without forfeiting the entire ADR.

You are all adults. Each arrive as expected and head to ME. Take the first ME out to your resort - don't wait for each other at the airport.

Then - whoever is there on time - head over to O'hana so you arrive on time for your reservation.

Yes - there's a chance the one arriving with only 2.5 hours might just be arriving at GF when you should be checking in at O'hana. BUT - if that's the case - they drop stuff at baggage services and head over to Poly - you'll be lucky to even be at your table yet!

Or - if the last one to arrive is clearly pushing it in terms of time - maybe that one takes Uber.

Remember this - that day - it's completely possible someone's flight is delayed or canceled.......

You can also walk rather than taking the boat, which would likely be faster. Also, keep checking for a new ADR. Check obsessively starting 48 hours prior. That’s when you’ll usually have luck! :)

I would go with this. One thing you can count on is probably none of your flights will arrive when you expect. They'll be a little early, a little late, maybe WAY late...who knows? It's possible one of your party won't make the ADR at all. So I'd do the "everyone is on their own" approach and hope for the best.

I wouldn't worry about trying to change the ADR. If everyone is even remotely on time, 2 1/2 hours should be plenty of time, and if you're in doubt Ubering will cut your travel time in half. Uber will pick you up within 5-10 minutes and it's a 30 minute ride. Worst case scenario, you could just go straight to the ADR and check in later.

As your trip gets closer, keep trying to change this ADR to something later. Is it really that important that you eat at Ohana? And there is no other day to do it? Will those of you that make it enjoy yourselves if everyone doesn't make it?

We took magic express to Polynesian once and got to our room 2.5 hours after landing. We actually landed 10 minutes early and we headed straight for DME after only a quick restroom stop. There were accidents on the route, and it was by far the longest ride we've ever had on DME. But it happened to us and could happen to anyone.

Yesterday I flew from Los Angeles home, and our flight departed an hour and ten minutes late because someone's seat was broken. Weather wasn't an issue in LA or Philly, other flights weren't delayed, and it was early in the day. It was just a fluke. It could have happened on any flight.

To me, it wouldn't be worth rushing and worrying about getting to get to the restaurant and the chance that someone in my group wouldn't be joining us.
