We have visited Disney each of the past 5 years, but now have decided to accommodate my 13 yr old son...who is a HUGE Harry Potter fan. We can't afford to go to both WDW and UO, so it will be solely a UO trip. This will be everyone's first time, and it will also be the week following Christmas if that makes a difference for crowds.

Thanks in advance for the help, as I can't wait to make the journey back down to Orlando and spend a little quality time with the family.:thumbsup2

Is there enough to do at the two Universal parks in order to get a 14 day ticket to park?

Absolutely not. At least, not for me. I've been to Universal once, in January 2011. We had two days there, in addition to a several days at WDW. Now, granted, I was by myself for most of the time and the only thing that interested me was the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (which, don't be misled, is merely a small section of Islands of Adventures. Not that it isn't AWESOME.) and the rollar coasters. I finished everything I cared to do in the first day and spend the second day wandering Hogsmead and Hogwarts Castle.

For me, a single day was more than enough time to get everything done. For a family with children? Maybe 3-5 days would suffice? A week, at the most, if you're really taking your time. But not two weeks. Again, however, I am a 23 year old with an interest in Harry Potter and rollar coasters who went by herself for most of the trip.

As a side note: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is worth the trip to Universal alone. I'm sure your son will love it! It is paradise for a fan of the books. Make sure to try the butterbeer!

Edit: Oooh, I was thinking that it was like...individual day tickets. Not a package deal. That changes things! I stand by the idea that it won't take more than a few days to see everything. But if you'd like to see other parks or have other activities planned, it's not a bad idea to have the flexibility to come back anytime within those 14 days.

The reason I asked about the amount of time was because to me the online deal for the 3 park unlimited ticket for $175 seems to be like a no-brainer, but I just wasn't sure if we would get bored with that many days of in and out of each of the parks.....don't get me wrong, I'm excited to go....just wanted to make sure it was worth the money to get the bigger ticket.

In my opinion 14 days at US/IOA is way too much.....but, if you are going to be in the area anyway and do other things, having the 14 day tickets for me is a good option because you could go to US for a day or 2, then go do something else, come back to US, go somewhere else, come back to US...etc. I have done stuff like this on previous trips and it was nice because after we had been to the parks for a couple of days and then did something else....we had time to think about what we saw and what we wished we had done.

Then we had the option of returning if we wanted to...but we didn't have to.
If you can find other things to do for the days in between US visits, then I think it is a great plan. If you just do 3 or 4 day tickets....and you do it all back to back...sometimes you get tired of the parks and it isn't as fun. Being able to come back over a period of time is great.

One option would be to purchase the Orlando Flex Plus ticket which is good for 14 days and lets you into US/IOA, Aquatica, Sea World, and Busch Gardens...maybe another too but am going from memory here. The tickets are around $312 for an adult I believe but would get you into all the parks for 14 days as much as you want.

Or...you could just buy tickets for the parks you want to visit...but this would probably be the least expensive option.

Thanx for the help. I did check out the flex tickets, but my kids aren't into water parks...and I only see us going to Sea World one day. Even if I payed admission for the one day to SW and got the 3 Park tickets I'd be saving money.

But yeah, that was my thoughts about the multi-day tickets....we could just go through the parks and really take our time and relax (something I'm not great at:eek:). I'm usually one of those travelers that has to be there early to get in right away and wants to stay until the place shuts down. I feel like this would allow us to visit sections of the park at different times and not have to wake up at the crack of dawn.

Would your kids like Busch Gardens? Not sure how old your kids are but I took several of mine last summer...ages 13-20 and they really liked it. They liked the coasters there.

Even taking your time at US/IOA....a few days will likely do it.

We visit the parks every day of our 2 week stay at some point and NEVER get bored. There is so much to see and do for us, and the atmosphere in the parks is so good....we love everything about Universal Orlando Resort.

However, this may not be for everybody, but for us it`s fantastic :thumbsup2

I agree the ticket you are looking at seems a good option, but I`m not sure on what type of ticket options you guys have. Some of the others on here will know better than me.

We always buy a UK 14 day unlimited for our visits. It cost £95 each so fantastic value for us.

We may be slightly odd to some....but I could spend a month there and never tire of the place. Some days we get up really early.......other days we sleep late......well kind of :rotfl: That`s the joy of Universal to us, we can take our time and enjoy every moment.

It would be quite relaxing for you, knowing you could chill and not try to squeeze everything into a couple of days........

14 days is too much for us. I've stayed for 7 days and thoroughly enjoyed it, though.

My son will be 13 and my daughter will be 10 when we visit in December. I've never considered BG before due to the fact that it's outside Orlando. Honestly if I picked up any other parks I'd probably try to sneak 1 day to one of the Disney Christmas parties.....unless the wife puts a screeching halt to that idea.;)

Are you going to be staying on-site? If you're not, you should budget in Express Passes. The week after Christmas this past year was one of the busiest times the parks have ever seen.

We will not be staying on site, which is another reason why I thought the extra time would be good...we aren't forced to be dictated by the crowds.

As much as we like US/IOA, that would be too much time for us. The 2 parks and Citiwalk just don't have enough for us to do for 14 days.

We've done mostly 3 days trips and on our last one decided it might be nice to try a 4 day trip so that's what we are doing over Memorial Weekend.

If you are planning on spending a week or more, you might want to consider getting one AP. If you are staying offsite, you will have to pay parking. You may break even with the cost difference between parking and the 14 day pass but you can save on food and merchandise.
