I'm hoping that Disney will offer the baby swap option for Expedition Everest. Does anyone know if they will? How does it work? This is our first trip to WDW with a baby, so I haven't done the baby swap thing before. Let me know, ok? Thanks!

It has been our experience that many of the baby swaps have turned into using the Fast Pass line, which we do not care for. Not that our child is a baby anymore, but there are a few things she was too short to ride, and it would have been more fun if we could have all waited together, have DH ride, and then have me ride right afterwards, rather than have to wait in the Fast Pass que by myself and have them go somewhere else.

I expect there will be becasue it has a height restriction and its a thrill ride/roller coaster. I may be wrong however.

I do believe that the single rider line will also serve as the baby swap . both are extensions of the fast pass line. I saw the swap goign on yesterday.

They have a singles line also? I didn't see that line when i was there last month.

So my DH, baby, and I get in the singles line together, DH rides while I hold baby, then I ride? Is that how it would work?

It has been my experience over the last 4 years with our DS that you can BABY SWAP on almost any ride- just enter either the FP or regular line and tell them what you want- nobody has ever told me NO...I get some weird looks in the line when our DS was 2 but no one ever told me only certain rides had baby swap. We all wait together whether we have FPs or not- then take our turns.

We are leaving in 11 days with our DSs 6 and 9 months - so I will use it alot...

Does anyone know if EE is ready to ride???

:goofy:

I have been told by the CM at HM at baby swap is only for those rides that have a height restricition. (And HM does not.) Though I didn't think taking my 2 year old on it would be good. Now DD will be 4 and well try it, making light of it along the way. (Look at that silly ghost, or silly this or that. She's pretty good with fantasy. Now, DS will be 2 this time and we'll see what his personality is like in 11 months. lol. But right now, I think he could go on it.
EE well, I can't wait for that. We will be doing baby swap, but we're going with another couple with kids the same ages as ours so we'll have someone to wait with if we have to. I'd hate riding alone. (Not so much that I wouldn't do it though. lol. :rotfl2: )

My advice is to always check with a CM at the ride you are interested before you stand in line, (fastpass, single or standby) tell them you want to baby swap (rider switch) and see how they want to handle it. Nobody wants to stand in line only to find out baby swap isn't offered or they handle it differently.

Even if you rode the ride yesterday using the baby swap I would ask again today because different cm's sometimes handle it different ways. It varies from attraction to attraction and even from day to day but IMHO it always works well.

In my experience only rides with a height restriction offer rider switch and only if you have the child who dosen't meet the requirement with you. We made the mistake once of sending my sil and dear neice for an ice cream before asking about the swap pass only to be asked where the "baby" was!. So be sure to get the pass before you send the other half off to the meeting spot.

The most common way to do the switch when a child is to small to ride is to give you a rider swap ticket for the second parent to use later the same day for that attraction only. It works like a Fast Pass but for up to three people and with no time limit. A very few rides have you wait at the exit and switch with the other party but most rides now use the rider swap ticket. (I think Star Tours still does it this way.)

I prefer the rider swap ticket as we didn't have to entertain toddlers in line for an attraction they couldn't ride. Instead we went for ice cream, to see a show, change a diaper - you get the point, while the other party rides. Then later in the day the other parent rides while the parent who rode first entertains baby.

If a child is tall enough to ride but chooses not to you will all need to wait the line and switch at the exit. In this case using a fast pass works better!

So, there should be a CM at the beginning of the line, and I ask THEM how the baby swap is performed for that ride?

This baby swap thing is much more complex then i thought! Of course, i also thought I had to wait in every line with the baby, so I'm glad you explained it to me better.

Is the baby swap pass the same as a fastpass? Here's an example, let's see if I get this right. Say DH, DS, and I go up to the CM at BTMRR, they say they do the baby swap and they give me the voucher. DS and I go hang out while DH waits in line and rides the ride. After he finishes the ride, I give him DS and I can go in the fastpass line with my baby swap voucher and ride right away or come back later if I want? Is that right?

Typically, they will give you a fastpass slip - at least it looks just like a fastpass. Then, when you are ready to ride - you just go thru the fastpass line! It works great and is a wonderful system! It's very easy to use and CMs will definitely help you out!

DS10 loves it - b/c while mom or dad waits with the baby - he gets to ride with one - then a 2nd time with the other! We usually change diapers, shop, or hang out at a playground while the other is riding! DS2 (last time - DS4 TODAY!) had the best time of the entire 9-day trip while hanging out at the little "Laughing Place" play area waiting for the Baby swap for Splash Mountain!

BACK ON TOPIC - Has anyone done the Baby Swap for EE yet? We will be there in 2 days & will definitely need it!!!

Yes - your example is just what we do.

Your questions: Yes, there should be a CM at the entrance to every line, standby or Fast Pass, they are the ones to ask.

And Yes, the rider switch pass is the same as a fast pass but it dosen't have a return time, you can use it any time that same day. Its a paper ticket allowing you to enter the attraction via the fast pass line with up to three people.

Its really not that confusing to do but difficult to explain sometimes! If you use Fast Pass for the first parent and rider switch for the second you shouldn't have to wait in to many lines with baby. If for whatever reason an attraction you want to ride dosen't use babyswap then just get fast passes for each of you and use them separately while the other parent plays with baby.
