Is There Anywhere/Anything at DW I CAN'T Use Gift Cards For?

I know Disney World is recommending cashless payments this time, so aside from tips, I was thinking of getting some Disney Gift Cards. I always worry that even though I advise my bank of travel, they'll do one of those "decline and alert for fraud" texts and then allow it to go through and I never trust that. LOL!

So if we want to spend the cards on food (carts and quick service and signature) as well as shopping in the parks, should be be okay?

Anywhere you can use a magic band to pay you can use a gc. A lot of qs wants you to mobile order. I know some carts have been cash only but I don't know if that's still the case. All the ones I can think of I've used a band. Most/all places at DS you should be able to use a gc as well, this is where seeing the magic band reader helps.

Nope. You'd have to go to the desk and pay with the gc. You can use them to pay when you mobile order, but it doesn't store the gc so it's recommended you keep the gc number in a note on your phone and copy/paste when you order. A pain but at least gc can be used for mobile order now.

You can store the gift cards on Disneygiftcards.com. You can also transfer balances from multiple gift cards to one gift card. I did that this past weekend and it was really cool!

That site isn't a mobile wallet though. Whether you keep a card on there with a balance is up to you. I know many people don't as people have gotten hacked.

Keep a little cash with you as well. From time to time a scanner can go down and a stand or QS will only be able to take cash. Very infrequent but it happened at F & W and I got to the front of the line for our lobster rolls as I was the only person with cash. Just my 2 cents

Good point. I didn’t keep a balance on there. I just used it to transfer my balances to one card and then immediately used that card to pay the hotel bill. It worked well for that purpose.

In the park and eateries can you charge to room on magic band? Then go down later and pay

Not via mobile order, otherwise nothing has changed.

I’ve literally never told my bank I’m traveling, and in 20 years of traveling multiple times a year, I’ve never gotten a suspicious purchase alert.

They did it to me when I visited NYC from Texas - maybe because I didn't travel a lot beforehand. Not sure but it was a pain to deal with.
