You definitely sit down Sue :) From the planning the DLP ToT is supposed to be more like the one in Anaheim :)

Definately sitting down - if you see the adverts in the USA they are standing up as well!! Adds to the drama I suppose :)

I've heard the DLP ride doesn't have the same pre-lift fall ghosty ride sequence as WDW does. Also the WDW has a random element to it's sequence which DLP lacks. But I'll find out for sure in August  .

Anyway, I have wee gripe about ToT in general -

SPOILER...highlight below to read it:

The adverts for both DLP and WDW give the impression of a [14 storey?] free-falling elevator when the ride doesn't do that at all  . It just kind of jiggles about a bit...feels to me like it only moves a few feet before stopping and falling a few more feet again. I was hoping to be actually terrified and fearing for my life whereas I came away disappointed. The best part of the WDW ride was the queue themeing and ghosty pre-ride. The fall itself is pants!

Just my opinion of course :rolleyes1 .

My husband went on it and said it was really good. Me on the other hand.... don't think I'll ever ride anything like that!!! For me Casey Jnr is as far as I get :lmao:

I have heard that the random sequencing on the WDW ToT means that you could get a ride with a few big drops, or more small drops, or a mixture of the two. I obviously don't know how many times you rode the ToT at WDW, but if it was just the once then maybe you just experienced the middle type. The random sequence idea is great for veteran ToT riders, but the DL/DLP version means that you are assured of at least two big drops each time you ride. :thumbsup2

The WDW and DLP ToT's are different. The DL one is the same as the one at DLP (actually the one built at DL was the one origionally planned for DLP.) The interior and the start of the ride are the same, the differences begin when you get in to the lift. At WDW the lift travels out of the lift shaft and moves forward into the 4th dimension scene, then goes into the drop shaft. At DLP and DL the lift goes straight into the drop shaft at the start of the ride and the 4th dimension scene is played out on the screen in front of you. WDW has a random drop sequence as mentioned before. There are 5 (I think) sequences which are randomly picked. DLP and DL do not have the random drop sequence. I'm not sure I've explained it very well!

The DLP doesn't just 'jiggle about a wee bit and drop a few feet'....it was massive drops I felt!:rotfl:

I went on it last week and I felt it wasn't as good as the WDW one. We had two longgggg drops and the doors opened twice at the top, and we also had about two halfway drops where it only dropped you a little. I prefer the WDW where it is really random and has more drops!!
I have to say the cast member who put us into the lift was fantastic!! Just like the one on the advert

A good point...I hadn't thought of that. It makes sense as I only rode it the once [alone] as the rest of my family were too scared :sad2: . They really missed out on the theming though; I thought it the best of all the attractions in WDW. Hopefully we'll all experience the DLP ToT together :grouphug:

Hehe the person who is afraid of the dark here with a thread hijacking question...

are the drops done in the pitch black....?

I believe the first rise and then drop is in the pitch black. But after that the doors at the top open so the rest of the drops are somewhat lighter, I could just about see my dbf next to me at that point.

We have all done the WDW one several times. I really like it when it goes out of the lift shaft but don't enjoy it enough as am so nervous about the drops. Guess all 7 of us will have to do this but does not sound as good.

Will report back in July
