I'm having trouble finding out very much about what is fun and great about this resort! Trying to plan out our non-park days. If there isn't a FAQ already, I'd love to hear or see photos of the resort, pools, etc and what kind of things there are to do there.

You must have read my mind!

I am looking at booking a Grand Villa in October before our Disney cruise. No park days planned. We have a large group and I need to have maximum space with minimum points ( as I have used most of them already )

So I too would like to know more about this resort.

Can I get a Grand Villa near the feature pool? Are the resturants located close to the feature pool or where are they? Are there movies on the beach/or by the pool available? Is there a fitness room? What about craft activities for the kids? And I read somewhere that on Sun and Wed there is a character bfast with Winnie the Pooh at the main restruant - Any idea if the Pooh bfast still occurs? (it would be a great start to our Disney cruise.... a Sunday morning Pooh bfast and then off to the Disney Dream.... ahhh!- but then again if Pooh is not available there are other character bfasts on property that would be available)

Allears.net has a fact sheet that will answer a lot of your questions, along with photos.

My DS(16) and I are just back from five non park days and had a great time! He slept late, I watched the sun come up every morning as the resort began to wake. The CM are very busy watering plants/flowers, cleaning the pool area ... all are awesome! There are scheduled events each day but I never found them published anywhere; pool party, trivia by the pool, movies, video game competitions, crafts, tye dye t's, etc. You can take the boat to DTD and lots to do there, as well as several good restuarants.

Olivia's is good but no character breakfast but you can head over to Cape May or Ohana's (allears has a list of where the characters are).

April was our first trip to OKW and we're hoping to go back in Dec. We completely fell in love!

There is an OKW Lovers thread right here on the DIS with lots of great information and photos of the resort.

If you have any specific questions, please ask as there are a lot of posters eager to share their experiences at OKW.

Enjoy! :)

OKW is a great resort but it is also fairly spread out. Pretty much all of the activities (bike rentals, crafts, evening movies, pool games - I got a schedule for the week when I checked in), the restaurant, store, bar, etc. are at the Hospitality House. So if you want to focus on activities at the resort you would probably want to ask to be in a building close to the Hospitality House.

Are you talking about this October?

No Pooh character breakfast for about the last ten years.

There isn't a beach at OKW. It has a canal that runs through it.

Yes, I am talking about October 2011. My use year is June so I have to wait until June to make my ressie because I am going to need to borrow points from 2012.

I was afraid that the information about the Pooh bfast was outdated. Just did a google search for OKW and not sure what site I read it on.

I also thought I read somewhere that there were movies out by the pool at night. But I may have misread that information as well.

Therefore, I came to the Dis for up to date and accurate information....

I see that someone has steared us to the OKW thread in an above post.

Yes, there are movies out past the pool at night, and lots of kids activities by the main pool during the day.

No you don't. You just have to wait for 7 months out. If you are using June 2011 points, October 2011 would be the that UY. If you are using any June 2010 points, those should have been banked months ago to use them for October. And if you are using June 2012 points, you just borrow them when you make the reservation. You could have made that reservation in March.

No need to wait until your UY starts.

You may be too late. But if you only need it one or two nights, you may get lucky.

Oh POOH!!!

I need to use 2012 points. I called Member Services back in March and I could have swore they told me I had to wait until June to make that October 2011 ressie if I was going to borrow/use 2012 points. POOH! POOH! POOH!

Getting on the phone now! Thanks for all your help.

I really hope it works out. I had not really given OKW much thought but the more I have looked at this resort, the more I think I love it!

Of, course, I have also wanted to visit the "real" Key West..... but a Disney substitute is a great adventure as well.

Again, thanks for the info.....

No luck with the Grand Villia :(

Did get a 2 bdr and studio at SSR. And it was 8 points less than the Grand Villa.

So I guess I will be leaving the OKW boards and head over to the SSR board

OKW is still on my "to do" list :)
