Is there an interest in having a Sticky for ABD meet threads?

I was thinking more about glasslipper's idea to have the thread by destination. If we did it this way, we could keep a "roll call" in one of the early posts with people on each trip. For example, if we had a "ABD Scotland 2013" meet thread, the first or second post would have a list of all the trips, and then someone on one of those trips would volunteer to update and keep track of the roll call by adding people's names to each trip as they joined (just like some of the cruise threads have). That way we would have the benefit of a wider group and still be able to keep track of who was on our particular trip.

So the first or second post of the thread would look like this:

Who's going? Roll call:

Jun 9, 2013 - Jun 17, 2013
Jun 22, 2013 - Jun 30, 2013

I like this idea best. That way more people can discuss the same itinerary even if they aren't on the exact same trip. I think if we got into specific dates most of those treads would be ghost towns.

I also like the idea of a sticky by destination rather than date. As noted above this forum is not nearly as busy as the DCL forum. It would be good to meet others on the boards doing the same trip just on different dates

That would be great! I also like the idea of sharing trip planning with everyone and getting to know any fellow travelers on our date. Excellent idea Glassslipper and California Girl!

I like this idea, too! After returning from our ABD trip this week, we are getting ready to plan another trip for NEXT May!!

I think this is an awesome Idea, not only for the reasons mentioned but there are members of this board that have traveled to the destinations previously that would be able to give pointers and tips for "on your own time" as well as for those who want to do extra days.

The idea for having meet thread for everyone on all the dates of an idividual adventure seems much more appropriate for this board. I already knew I wanted to come in early and attend the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. If you hadn't mentioned the Real Mary King's Close underground tour I would have never thought to look into it. Ideas like those are things that everyone going to Scotland might benefit from.

We are planning to book for London/Paris in 2014. I will totally be lurking on their meet thread too.

I know you already started them - I just wanted to say thanks from someone who has never been on an ABD tour. One of the ways that helps me find out if something is for me is to read threads, especially on the DIS.

For someone who hasn't been the prices seem daunting, I'm also a solo, so that certainly adds to the costs. BUT after having read some of the trip reports it makes more financial sense. (here's a gentle reminder to SayHello to finish that trip report )

I think I might eventually be interested in the Knight and Lights package someday! Especially an adults-only one. Can not do it in 2012, and I'm still hoping DCL announces a WBTA in 2013. So perhaps in 2014.

SingingMom, Ok I am dying to know. How was Stonehenge?

Also, what was your favorite part of the trip?

Calypso726: My DH had a terrible sinus headache the morning of Stonehenge, so DD18 went without us. (I was a little worried about leaving him.) DD said the ride was long and the feeling when they got there was a little "Oh, so this is it?" but she had a ball to and from with the gang, and they all laughed and had a great time.

It's hard for me to pick a "favorite" part of the trip - except to probably say our darling guides, Frankie & Francesc!

My highlights were: Windsor Castle, Versailles, the Lourve, Westminister Abbey, Harrods, and Les Miserables on the West End. (we are theatre lovers and did this on our free night in London).
