If there is a newbies guide or quick play thread, please, please, please send me to it. I've logged on a few times and played a bit but I'm still not getting some things. Where and how do you shop? I'd like a camera, how do I buy one? I made may charater in the park and got a few things for that but I don't have the 'born in the park' thing, I don't think.

I'm not a very patient person when it comes to games, I want to be able to play and understand how they work with out tearing my hair out.

TIA,
MHL-noni

Have you read through the player's guide stickied at the top of the forum?
There's a lot of really good info there. :)

First of all, do you know how to use the map to get around? When you use the map, the toolbar on top shows you the various lands you can visit. Click on a land and you can see all the locations in that land; click on a location and you will be teleported there. The places to shop are Emporium in Main Street, Shrunken Ned's in Adventureland, Golden Horseshoe in Frontierland, it's a small world imports in Fantasyland, and Inner-Space Shop in Tomorrowland (this one requires you to do magic quests to get in). The camera is at VMK Central in Main Street. Go there and click on the black pirate sign. To buy things anywhere else, you can teleport to the shop and then click on the cash register. You can also shop from the "shop" button in your bottom toolbar.

Thanks for the info. I did read the guide last night and was toggling back and forth between here and VMK so I did learn a few things. I feel stupid trying to sort things out though.

I figured out the map pretty quick. I kept getting the same list of clothing when I went into the shops and hit 'shop' so I figured I was going something wrong, unless certian items aren't available until you've palyed a while or gotten a certian number of points. I know I'll get it eventually.

Thanks again,
MHL-noni

When you're in the stores shopping for the first time, you have to double click on the cash registers. Anytime after that, you can just hit the shop button.

There are items that can only be bought when in the stores that's listed under Specials. After you open the shops, you can buy anything else you want where ever you are when you click the shop button.

to shop at certain stores, double click on their cash registers! then when you are anywhere else in VMK you can buy stuff from those store that you have clicked on!

another question..... are there multiple servers for the game? DH and I were in the same spot and couldn't see each other.

ther are several different sets of each room! while on the map, click advanced, and then click on a room! you will see several different chioces like east and south!

The guide is being updated and hopefully the new version will make things a little easier for the newbee.

You may see clothes on people that are not currently for sale. This means they were for sale in the past, but are no longer available. Sometimes certain items come back out (for example, the princess outfits have come out more than once). To get anything that is retired, you must trade for it.

When you first play pirates of the carribean remember that it costs 21 credits to play and that you can only play level one at first. Also there are a few places throughout vmk where u can get secret credits. Like on shunken ned, if u double click on him he gives you credits. PM me if u want more tips. Ive been playing vmk for a long time :)

Thanks for all the replies, I'm having an easier time navigating the game now. I found (and am still finding) a few things on the DIS guide a bit confusing, it makes more sense after I've visitied an area a few times. I guess some of it is trial and error and I just don't do well with it when I'm trying to do some thing that's supposed to be fun.

just pm me and i can answer any questions needed! i would alo love to be friends on vmk! but i cant seem to get on right now........

You have picked one of the best places to get info on VMK. There is always someone here who can help you and they are so nice. Welcome!

In addition to the guide that was mentioned, another great resource is the REMOVED

This is in fact the link I had posted. I was not sure about posting it though because it was linked to another site. :confused3

You can post links to other sites as long as the sites are acceptable(no objectional content).

You can not post them over and over again that is considered advertising.

You can not ad web links to your signature with the exception of your own personal site and the exception to that is that you can not be selling anything on your site and that your site have a direct link back to the DIS.

All that said I have removed the link above because the owners have not included the DIS as a fansite link under their fansite. Most of the info found at this location can also be found here on the DIS.

If the owners of this would like to add a link back to the DIS then posting a link to the site will be allowed.

I will ask if they can do that.
Alas, they say: "We don't allow links to other fan sites here on the forums and on the wiki. We can't control the content other fan sites may have. Since these forums are G rated, we need to make sure that everybody here follows the rules for the protection of all our users. Therefore we can't post or ask for other fan sites."

Oh well, it is a great resource. I agree that much of the content can be found here if you search...but do we have a VMK timeline?
