Is there a trick to getting the front seat of a coaster?

Most of the POV ride videos I see are from the very front seat and it made me start to wonder how it's done. At Disney the CMs are very prescriptive about telling people which loading lane to get into, but at Universal is it more self-serve so you can just queue at the front if you want?

The Hulk and Dragons each have front row lines that split off from the main line at some point. They generally mean a longer wait, but are worth it to do once anyway. I believe Rocket does this as well, but I do not have as clear a memory since I only ride that one once per visit.

Oh awesome, thanks for the details!

You do not get to go into whatever line you please. It's the same as Disney where they ask how many people are in your party and assign you to a row so you can be seated accordingly.

You have front row lines on a few select rides as ravenclawforver stated, but in the past I've asked if I can be in the front row and state that I'd be willing to wait for the next ride vehicle in order to do so and was allowed to get a front row seat after waiting for the next round. However, if you are a single rider, you do not get this privilege as they sit you wherever you're needed to fill empty seats. But if you wait like everyone else, you should be able to request it as long as you let them know you're willing to wait a little longer for it (if the ride does not offer a queue for front row lines).

RRR doesn't have a separate line for the front row. Sometimes they will let you wait for it and sometimes they won't.

We always just ask for front row. They ask us to move aside to let others through, and then they put us in front row on the next ride. Been doing that for about a decade now at both Disney and Universal on almost ALL rides, not just coasters. Have never been told no.

we just ask and they have us stand aside and we get on the next ride. On our last trip we encountered a lot of people who were standing in Row 2 or 5 that would run upto the front only to be rebuffed by the attendant...
