I am renting points from a DVC for a 5 night WDW stay. I am running numbers to see if the DDP makes sense for a family of 4. My kids are 10&13 so they are on the adult rates.

As I understand it the plan is $37.99 plus tax per night per adult. When adding this to a Resort package you are charged the 11.5% 'Resort Tax' rate instead of the lower 6.5% rate you pay for everything else. This means the genuine cost is $42.36 per night. OR $169.44 a day x 5 nights=$847.20

When the DVC member made our res. she was told the DDP would cost us $779.80 for a 5 night stay. This is a difference of $67.40.

The only thing I could think of that might account for this difference is that maybe the tax is the regular 6.5% for DVC members.???? Anyone have any Info???

Thanks!

After a closer look I realized the total of $779.80 is just the no tax included total, taking into account a price increase to $38.99 PP/Day for 2007.
When staying in a vacation club resort are the usual taxes added to the cost of this plan? Thanks again

The DDP is really worth. I have no idea how they tax it but I will use it probably everytime we go. Its nice to know that no matter what we want to eat it will only cost us about 80$ a day. We spend that on dinner. Our bills last time for dinner alone was over a 100$ every night. Granted that we would have gotten two app. and two deserts but that way we can try different stuff. Its fun that way. Plus you can go anywhere you want and not worry about how expensive the joint is. :thumbsup2

There is no additional tax when you add it to DVC.

For the heck of it, I ran through a package quote on disneyworld.com. It came out to a difference of $38.99 per day (I used one person, 2007 dates).

tax is included in the price of the meal plan, regardless of whether it's through DVC or CRO.
You will pay $38.99/day per adult and $10.99/day per child, no additional expense for tax.
For example, say you booked through CRO and paid for your room and tickets already and decided to add the dining plan later; for two adults and one child, the additional cost would only be $88.97 per night.

Thanks all for helping me out on this one...I don't know what I would do with-out the help of my DIS friends! pixiedust:
