We're thinking about going to Aruba so I was checking airfare. I was shocked when I couldn't find anything, nonstop, less than $700! Why is it so expensive to fly there? Anyone got any tips on when to book to get lower fares? Thanks!

It is USUALLY cheaper to book flights on Tuesday and Wednesdays!

You are better off to look every day. Sometimes there are fare sales that only last a couple of hours.

Sign yourself up for fare alerts on Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia, and the airlines you are likely to fly. That will help you find the best fares.

When are you going?

The reason I ask is because I've been worried about airfare for our trip in December. I called the airline and she said to wait until about September to start checking for better rates. In fact I've been trying different dates for awhile now and rates for a week in September JUST went down this week. Last week the fare was $256, now today it's down to $178. I feel better now that I see the Fall Fares coming down

Maybe you are just looking a little too early?

Aruba is expensive though...especially if doing a timeshare. My brother has a place there and goes every year. He rarely finds something under $500.00. Many times you do better w/ a package to a place like that! Do as those below stated. It is especially good to sign up for fare alerts...yahoo etc. You can alway try to book w/ someone will offer a refund or voucher if the price drops. Good luck looking.
