We've never stayed at this resort before but we are for our upcoming May trip since we have lots of Marriott points. I was just wondering if there is a Publix near there? Or another affordable grocery store?

I know there's a shopping center called Williamsburg Downs nearby that has a Publix. My family has gone to that Publix every year for at least five years :lmao:

There are two that are fairly close by Grande Vista.
There's an older, smaller Publix on Central Florida Parkway in the Williamsburg Town Center, about a mile away (from the resort turn right onto International Drive, then turn right onto Central Florida Parkway at the light at the intersection, the shopping center is ahead on the right). A much newer, much larger Publix is in a shopping center in the opposite direction about a mile and a half down International Drive (from the resort turn left onto International Drive, continue to the second traffic light, then turn right onto Vineland Ave., Publix is immediately on the right).

Thanks everyone!

Anybody have any other tips for this area - restaurants, etc? We're taking my Mom's GPS so at least getting places will be a bit easier.

How long will it take to get to WDW?

How long depends on where you're going and which route you take. But generally it's 15 to 20 minutes from Grande Vista to the various Disney theme parks' parking lots. They'll give you maps and directions at the check-in desk.

We usually go down International Drive (left turn from the resort), taking the right lane toward SR 536 then crossing the SR535 intersection onto SR 536. Just go straight past the I-4 interchange and you'll enter Disney property and then follow the signs to the parks.

Oh, and loads of restaurants in the area. There's Nick's right at the resort and the Copa Loca poolside bar and grill also at GV. I'd suggest Bahama Breeze on the corner of SR535 and Vineland Ave (same directions as for going to the Publix at I-Drive and Vineland but keep going on Vineland past the Outlets, BB is on the right past the Marriott Village complex). Also there's a Landry's Seafood right across Vineland from Bahama Breeze (there's a steakhouse next to Landry's). If you go right at that intersection onto SR 535, there are a whole bunch of chain restaurants on the stretch shortly after going under I-4. And the many restaurants at Downtown Disney.
We like to go to some of the restaurants at BoardWalk - the ESPN Cafe and the Big River Grille and Brewery are a lot of fun - and have made BoardWalk into a family tradition for our first meal after arriving in Orlando. We also like the Town Tavern restaurant in Celebration.
