distance to find a liquor store? we are staying at SSR.. our first alone vacation in years.. want to have a drink on hand.. any thoughts? We dont have a rental care this trip.

thanks.

Nothing real close. I think the Crossroads shopping center, down hotel Blvd. would be the closest, but it's a pretty good hike.

Nothing nearby. My advice is to get a cab and do a quick liquor store/snack run. The prices for liquor at the resort is absolutely ridiculous.

They sell beer & wine at the Hess right across from DTD for much less than Disney prices, but if you're looking for liquor there is an ABC Liquor store 3.25 miles from SSR at 11951 S. Apopka Vineland Rd. & there is also a Winn Dixie in the same plaza. We called Yellow Cab for $10 each way from SSR.

You do know, of course, that they sell some bottles of liquor at the stores at all of the DVC resorts, and I think, all of the other WDW resorts too, right? You will pay a premium for the convenience, but to us, it's worth it, not taking the extra time to travel to a store off-property.

You could pack it in your suitcase and send it down with you. Just be sure to seal it in a plastic bag in case it leaks. Then just store the leftovers (if there are any) in your owners locker for next time!

The walk from DTD to Crossroads isn't too bad, you could stop for dinner at one of the restaurants and get some food as well from Goodings, next door to the liquor store, not as cheap as Publix/Walmart but a good alternative to on site offerings, after you could get a cab back to SSR :)

I second this option -- but I'd also roll up the bottle(s) in some bubble-wrap before putting in plastic bag(s) -- then you have that space in luggage to bring home souvenirs!

I've been in this dilema before while staying at SSR. We called a cab company and explained the situation. The cab took us to the liquor store waited for us and took us back to SSR (picked up and dropped off right at room). Total fare with tip was just at $20.

I want to say that the name of the liquor store we went to was ABC? :confused3
