help! i'm totally new to scrapbooking.

i've started making a memory book. but i noticed i am able to PEEL off the photos THE NEXT DAY?!

(i'm using craft acid free gluestick)

this makes me worry that in 20 years all my photos and mementos will just be FALLING out of this book?

does anyone know of a more PERMANENT adhesive that they would recommend?

i want to be able to pass this memory book down to my kids and their kids.

(And then have it wind up in an antique shop in 130 years ;)

thanks!!!

PS. or do you just have to do 'maintenance on your book over the years. keep going back in and patching it up with new glue dots?

Welcome to the wonderful world of scrapbooking! Be prepared, however, it can be addictive. As for adhesive, I have tried several different types, but lately I've been using this glue runner stuff from Wal-Mart. It's from a company called Ad tech. It's not too expensive and it's VERY permanent! It sticks so well, you'd better be real sure your pics are where you want them cause once you stick them down, they're down! I do keep a bottle of Un-Du handy as I have a tendency to change my mind!:rolleyes1

I have also tried this Ad Tech stuff from Walmart recently and kytiam is right... it sticks hard and quick. But I didn't find any refills.... just the original runner. I have great luck with the Creative Memories tape runner and the DOTTO adhesive runner.... just be sure that you get the permanent adhesive and not the removable if you are concerned about things coming loose. Whatever you do, don't buy the Creating Keepsakes adhesive runner at Joanne's Fabrics.... see my earlier thread today about that stuff!...........P

I have been using a refillable Xyron tape runner. I love it. The tape sets and sticks. But do be careful - a lot of the tapes are made to be removable. I have accidently picked those up before.

I agree with everyone... you are going to have better luck with a tape runner of sorts than a glue stick. I think it has something to do with the consistency of the stick.

I like the xyron and the CM runner.

I have found that it depends on the type of paper you use too. The Creative Memories tape runner works the best on textured paper but I also use the Vario tape runner and that works well on smooth paper too.

My new adhesive of choice is the ATG Tape gun by 3M, and the ATG Gold tape.

It's what framing specialists use. It is really sticky. I found out about it through the 2peas message board. The gun is a bit expensive ($40) but the tape comes in rolls of 36 YARDS (most scrapping adhesive is in terms of feet) costs about $2.75 per roll, so I figure it will pay for itself real quick.

uh oh! i have kind of an obsessive personality. so i guess i'm in trouble!

;)

I bought the purple tape runner by JoAnn's for $2.50. I couldn't find what I wanted that day.

I love it! It is permanent and STAYS!:cool1:

I used to use the Dotto, but spent more time unsticking the gizmo than sticking my photos down.
